US-Based Kenyan Publicly Declares He's Gay
A Kenyan man living in the United States has come out to publicly declare that he is gay.
Paul Lukas, who works with Alaska Airlines, took to social media on Thursday to proclaim his sexual orientation, stating that he was tired of hiding his status.
In a post on Facebook, the mass communication graduate said he wanted to share with his social media followers about his sexuality after sharing the same with his family and close friends.
"I just want everyone to know me and accept me. Yes, I am gay and want to live my life," he wrote.
Lukas said some members of his family rejected him after opening up about his sexuality but others accepted who he is.
" I came out to my family got rejected with some, others loved me even more, but yes that is all I want to be...Rainbow is my life. Ooh I just came out to Facebook family too," noted Lukas, a resident of Tacoma, Washington.
The US recognizes the rights of lesbians, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and is one of the countries where homosexuality is legal.
In May, Kenya's High Court declined to repeal sections of the country's Penal Code that criminalize same-sex relations.
Parts of Kenya’s penal code states that anyone who has “carnal knowledge… against the order of nature” can be imprisoned for up to 14 years.
Another section recommends a five-year jail sentence for “indecent practices between males.”

while I concur this isn't newsworthy, @ ANNO, is it really necessary to use slurs here to describe people? just remember a lot of the freedoms you enjoy in the states the same people you now slur have suffered and a lot died so you wouldn't have to sit at the back of the bus or drink from a fountain with dogs. you sound like a bitter sad person, crawl under a rock and don't come out.

Of course heterosuxuals do it all the time, it just isn't news anymore. What exactly are you subconciously saying when you introduce your wife/husband/kids to friends? Engagements? Ruracios? Wedding committees? The list declaring heterosuality is endless!

@Nani, what is you are describing is totally different from declaring you are gay. The dude over here is not taking ruracio or introducing wife/husband/kids. If it were what you are describing his husband/wife will be with him.

Homosexuality is anti-nature…

Homosexuality is anti-nature and against God. Fact; had Paul Lukas parents been gay, he would not be in this world today.
Homosexuality is not part of Kenyan or African culture it is rather a filthy borrowed culture from the west. (Robert Mugabe -UN Speech "We are not gays").
Before we ask our people to adopt this homosexual culture we must first understand the history of this evil, demonic and violent nature of this practice. Our own brothers who were carried as slaves were sodomized by their white masters in the "Sex Farms".
The process was known as "breaking the buck". It involved a strapping of negro slave who was defiant, beating him with a whip until he was bloody in front of his entire slave community. The master would then savagely sodomize the slave infront of his wife, family, friends and children so they can witness their father's sexual demise and humiliation. Buck breaking was the slave master's very effective tool to keep all young black slaves from ever being defiant and taking revenge. It also frightened the mother's and wives from ever giving consent to an uprising.
Buck breaking was so successful that it was made into a " Sex Farm" where the slave master could travel from plantation to plantation feeding their sadistic homosexual needs.
Imagine the psychological damage this has done to our black brothers over generations?

Mimicking and adopting other people's culture, without understanding the historic context and the negative impact and capacity to destroy our very own cultural and traditional beliefs, is a very dangerous road to take.

You know I was so ignorant as to why the black community hates the whites with such a passion until I did college history (1301 in Texas). My perception towards the white guy was changed generally (it was not my fault but my professor’s) The way the masters raped both men and women at will was just saddening. And yes, there never used to be homosexuals in Africa until the “bible bearer’ arrived.

Can we be consistent in asking people not to flaunt their lives in our faces? When people announce their engagements, weddings, pre-weddings etc in newspapers and other public spaces, aren't they flaunting their heterosexuality in our faces? Personally, I have zero attraction to extremely heavy set women but I could never tell any of them not live and flaunt as they please.

Sharing his sex orientation on his Facebook page was appropriate and what social media is about in relationship building. Setting the record straight was necessary in a medium where followers turn into friends, lovers and in many instances lead to marriage. He did not want to confuse nor mislead his followers and I commend him for his brevity given the close mindedness of the culture he comes from where gay sex is taboo and criminalized. In his own way he has moved the needle in advancing LQGTQ civil rights by his self acceptance and empowering a child who may be struggling with their sexual identity. Congrats Paul Lukas, live your life in truth and to the fullest!
