Ungrateful President Uhuru Kenyatta Fails to Meet Kenyan People

You do not need to be genius to know that President Uhuru Kenyatta is a Coward. By not showing up for the debate tonight goes to show that president Kenyatta thinks that he is better than everyone else.

I have had a few people inbox me and of course many of them are of the opinion that the president was right not to show up. They actually tried to make this debate about a man Raila Odinga who showed respect for Kenyans by showing up.

Let us for a minute leave Raila out of this. Let us talk about the guy who has been in charge of our country for the last four years. Let's us talk about why Uhuru ought to have showed up for the #DebatesKe.

Today's debate wasn't about Raila or Uhuru. It was THE ONLY chance where Kenyan people could have interrogated, challenged, questioned, object to, confront, dispute, call into question; demur about or against the president and his challenger.

The president and his challenger normally controls the message and messaging when they are on campaign rallies. Kenyan people had one opportunity to control the message and the messaging and that was through the debate.

On campaign trails, the NASA and JUBILEE mandarin have no one to rebattle them. Has no one to call them out. They are surrounded by idlers and sycophants. They are surrounded by hungry people waiting for handouts who are susceptible to manipulation unlike the debate.

The debate provided Kenyans to ask and press for specifics and not the usual indefinite, uncertain and vague rhetoric that goes unchallenged.

We needed to ask the president questions about corruption and runaway cost of living. We needed to ask the president about our security and safety as a nation. We needed to ask the president about education and health. We needed to ask the president about the ballooning public debt.

So for some of you who thinks that the president did himself a favor, please think again. For those of you who thinks that the debate wasn't necessarily important, I would question your line and school of thought.

This debate wasn't about Uhuru or Odinga. It was about our country, it is about our taxes, it is about our future. It is about accountability and transparency. It was about specifics and not ambiguous good for nothing manifestos.

Uhuru is ungrateful coward. A coward who couldn't face his own people. And you wonder why he stayed abroad and watched from afar while Kenyan children were being butchered by Al-shabaab?

@ Peter, though i do not grasp fully your incoherence written above, I think most forward thinking people will support this author's ideology. Debates are important to voters as it play a pivotal role in holding in transparency, accountability and stand on issues facing us the voters. UK deserved to respect the kenyan people who were eager to hear from him. Cyclical debates is now the norm is almost all developed countries and UK is trying to take our country back.

Mr. Kipchumba: Which people was Uhuru supposed to meet? Tell me when or where debates won Presidency. No where! It is a waste of time. Raila enjoyed 90 minutes of exposure; let's see if that alone will win him the seat. People have already decided. I understand the entire panel and the lone participant showed zero diversity. Does that bother you?

Were they supposed to debate in Kiswahili,or English?
In my opinion, debates are a waste of time, and purely entertainment.
Campaign win votes. It is also unfortunate that we are aping the west.Where is our originality?

The debates like Maxiley said are for entertainment mostly and nothing one says in debates really sways any voters. In most cases even here in the US , 80% of voters are decided , only 20% are undecided and would rely on debates to be persuaded. Now with that said, Kenya isnot US or UK. It irks me that folks want to compare us with these countries with observations made from Karen or those upper echelons of so called middle class. Travel far and wide in .KE and we are still in 1940's US if we want to compare

Aiyah the president disrespected Kenyans by not showing up. He is the current president and needed to explain why he should still be given another 5 years after publicly declaring Mnataka nifanye nini jameni when asked what he could do about corruption. This has nothing to do with Raila it is about auditioning for the job in a controlled environment unlike the campaign trail which are filled with idlers and so called supporters. This has nothing to do with the West.Eti he was busy yet he keeps bashing the opposition saying he has implemented the most development what about the amount of money that he and his croonies have stolen.Arrogance and false sense of entitlement tukutane kwa debe kamwana supporters

Bwak,90 minutes of debate is not going to tell wananchi alot. They will be arguing, and berating each other on stage.
One does not have to wait till debate to know what the president has,or has not done.By debate time(if it takes place) all interested parties know where their candidate is on issues.
