United States First Lady Melania Trump has began her tour to Africa, marking her first solo international trip since assuming office in 2017.
Melania will be in Ghana on Tuesday before proceeding to Malawi, Kenya and conclude her five-day tour in Egypt later in the week.
Her tour on the continent will feature visits to hospitals, schools and shelters as she focuses on the well-being of children under her "Be Best" initiative launched earlier this year.
"She had always envisioned that Africa would be her first solo international trip," her communications director, Stephanie Grisham said.
"She is interested in Africa because she has never been before and knows that each country will have its own unique history and culture."
