Detectives Arrest Suspect Behind Fake JKIA Jobs Scam

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested fraud suspect Bonface Ouko.

Ouko is believed to be the mastermind behind a fake jobs racket that has been defrauding jobseekers of their hard-earned money by promising them nonexistent jobs at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

JKIA-based sleuths lured the 27-year-old suspect to a trap before arresting him on Friday evening, having presented a fake letter of offer to a detective posing as a jobseeker.

The letter purported to have been issued by Eurocraft Agencies, a ground handling company at JKIA, offered the detective a financial analyst position.

To conceal his identity, Ouko had adopted a fake name Peter Kamuri and developed a fake Eurocraft security pass bearing the name.

“He would charge his victims various kinds of fees, before offering them the fake letters of offer,” read a police report.

They included medical fees, security pass fees, interview fees, and uniform fees, among others. The suspect is currently being held at the JKIA police station pending arraignment in court on Monday.

Anyone who may have fallen victim to Ouko’s machinations has been asked to file a report at the JKIA DCI offices.
