Githunguri MP's Bodyguard Arrested for Shooting and Killing Nightclub Bouncer

Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago’s bodyguard has been arrested for fatally shooting a nightclub bouncer.

Dennis Wainaina, an Administration Police (AP) officer, is said to have fired at the bouncer three times at Lounge 54 in Kiambu town on Wednesday night.

Speaking to a local TV station, the Lounge’s manager said Wainaina arrived at the joint at around midnight and ordered the deceased to open the premises, saying he wanted to buy beer.

“I heard him arguing with the guard outside the premises, it was late, and we had closed, the guard told him it was not possible to open, then I heard three shots,” he said.

The manager immediately rushed out and found the guard on the ground bleeding profusely. He then phoned Kiambu OCS who sent police officers to rush the victim to the hospital.

Sadly, the guard succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Radiant Hospital at around 4:00 am on Thursday.

The deceased’s wife said she was shocked at the tragic news since Wainaina and her husband were close friends who used to drink together.

“That person who killed him is his friend, they drink together even, I have no idea what happened, I want the government to intervene,” she said.

After the incident, Wainaina left the scene of the crime and locked himself inside his house, where he threatened to shoot his family members or commit suicide but he later surrendered.

He is currently being held at Kiambu Police station as investigations into the incident continue.
