Kenya Registers Highest Single-Day Covid-19 Cases, Raising Tally to 2,767

Kenya’s Covid-19 cases have soared to 2,767 after 167 more people tested positive for the virus on Sunday.
This marks the highest number of infections registered in a single day since Kenya confirmed its first case of Covid-19 on March 13th.
The Health Ministry on Sunday said the 167 new Covid-19 patients comprise 159 Kenyans, four Eritreans, and a South Sudanese national—all aged between 11 months and 75 years.
The bulk of the cases were confirmed in Nairobi (54), followed by Mombasa (47), Busia (28), Kiambu (14), Uasin Gishu (11), Kisumu (4), and Machakos (3). Homa Bay, Kwale, Makueni, Migori, Siaya, and Turkana registered one case each.
On the other hand, the number of recoveries rose to 752 after 46 more patients were discharged from the hospital while the death toll jumped by one to 84.
President Kenyatta on Saturday declined to lift restrictions imposed by the government to control the spread of Covid-19 citing the growing rate of infections.
For instance, in the past seven days, Kenya has reported 805 cases of Covid-18 and the Health Ministry has warned the country may soon be recording over 200 infections per day.
