Machakos Governor Mutua Asks President Uhuru to Order Lifestyle Audit On All State Officials

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has asked President Kenyatta to order a lifestyle audit on all government officials.

Speaking in Machakos, Mutua said the audit should target Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Governors, Senators, Members of Parliament as well as senior civil servants.

He said that those who fail to explain their source of their wealth after the audit should have the assets seized by the State.

“I am asking President Uhuru Kenyatta and agencies concerned with the fight against corruption to immediately institute lifestyle audit of all elected, nominated or appointed leaders in our country because we have seen people with so much money that we cannot understand,” he said.

“Those who will fail to explain how they acquired their fabulous wealth should have the properties confiscated and returned to the people of Kenya who are the rightful owners.”

Mutua's call comes in the wake of scandals that have rocked different government department and ministries including National Youth Service, Kenya Power, Kenya Pipeline Company and National Cereals and Produce Board among others.

The Governor further noted that it was absurd that some individuals in the country owned choppers, huge chunks of land and other properties worth billions yet they earned modest salaries from their full time jobs.

“Those stealing are near you and are maligning your name through their actions, deal with them ruthlessly and show Kenyans there are no sacred cows in your administration,” the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader told President Kenyatta.

Mutua. you are right. We have an opportunity to rescue our nation from going to hell if your advice is taken seriously and implemented by those in power beginning with Uhuru Kenyatta himself and his deputy Samoei Arap Ruto.

This issue was raised awhile ago,but I think it got no where.RememberMpigs were supposed to declare their assets and sources. Most opposed;then the issue just died.Yes, all high ranking public officials must make their assets/wealth,and their sources public. If they dont want to meet this condition, then move to private sector.
Yes its time Uhuru got serious with this rampant corruption.I sadly still remember his comment,Mnataka nifanye nini...". Well Mutua has agood suggestion. start from there.

The attitude with us Kenyans is the use of "them" attitude and not "us". All Kenyans over 18 years whether employed or not should have their lifestyle audit accessible to all. Yes, it should be a public record. This way, all Kenyans would have a record, a very long one showing how they got rich or poor and how others managed to acquire billions of shillings having started from say Gikomba. Special interest would be paid to those interested in running for public office. With that kinda trail, it would be hard to cheat Wanjiku.

Please educate yourself before posting dumb comments. Why should we do a lifestyle audit when we can easily, VERY, VERY EASILY FIX our financial system so no one can STEAL OUR money??!! This problem has been solved for DECADES now!!

The truth is you can minimize the culture of corruption but you can never eliminate it. If Uhuru's cousin owns a construction company probability is he gets the contract. So long as the road is built, who cares? If I want to sponsor an MP/Governor who will help me get richer, so what? Next election vote him out. People will always try to take advantage of the system.

The impunity with which some people in Kenya are able to empty our money straight into their pockets would not be possible without the blessings of the President. That is the simple truth. Let's stop all the BS and admit this fact so we can solve this problem.

You are way over your head Pigavitu and full of hot air. Your examples above is an indication of just how corrupt your thinking is and maybe the thought of life style audit for all adults makes you scared. What is the difference between your corrupt way of thinking and the corrupt officials in Kenya? I will tell you; the difference is you don't have the stolen money and they do. Umeruka Kama mtu amekalia miiba. You could very well be one of those corrupt thieves and only bitter because someone else stole the money before you did. Stop the bullcrap, go sanitize your corrupted brain. Kenya should NOT strife to minimize corruption but eliminate it! Stop the aping behaviour of western countries and strife to do better! Bure Kabisa.

Obviously you are not very bright so I will make this easy for you.

One, corruption is a cultural problem that requires continuing effort. Educate people, put a morals clause in every government contract, encourage openness, reward ethical employees and have a zero tolerance for those who dont follow the rules. There will always be people who try to take advantage of the system. This fight never stops.

Two, stealing money from the public is a completely different problem that can be solved today. There is tons of very effective and secure financial and accounting solutions out on the market. The fact that Uhuru continues to allow this to happen says a lot about him and I for one refuse to keep pretending that he is clueless.

Should we really be counting how many goats Wanjiku has in order to see if she's stealing from us? 2030 is coming up fast, we really have to let go of this type of backward thinking.

Clearly you lack some critical thinking skill but I commend you for understanding the basics though still shallow. Keep trying cos arguing with a retard like you would be tantamount to wallowing in the mud with a pig. The pig obviously being @Pigavitu. Go somewhere read a book and get a little smarter.I rest my case.

My apologies to you Mugikuyu. We as Kenyans have to educate each other and maybe we can get ourselves out of this mess. We need our own Age of Enlightenment. Sadly my friend, you are proof that we have a long way to go. It's my fault for not realizing early enough I was dealing with an empty debe.

I just wonder whether even governor Mutua the 1 km,1 minute road construction conman has also joined other corruption champions in fighting corruption.I am lost because Mutua corruptly obtained a permanent high court order restraining the EACC or any other govt agent to investigate him over the loss of taxpayers funds at Machakos County three years ago.Only the firing squad will solve this problem.

When are we going to admit the truth? Why do we keep running around trying to catch those who are drinking from the tap while we can easily turn it OFF???!! Others have already solved this problem decades ago. Are we really that stupid?

Indeed we are (stupid). That’s why South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore & a few others were well behind us in the 1960’s but now hatuwezi washika. The African is inherently dumb & stupid, with a lower IQ to boot!

@ Mlachake, I am not a student of history so I dont know much about afica's past other than what I see reflected in today's world. And that has raise alot of questions in my mind here is the list of a few:

If mankind started in africa shouldnt we be way ahead iof many nations...
Why did africans sell their fellow africans...
And those who were sold, why the heck did they not fight back?
Why cannnt we have USA( United States of Africa)
50 Plus years after independence, africa still riddles with diseases, hunger, unemployment, over crowding, crime...ect.
If SCIENCE tells us that we are 99.9 percent similar, how come what mwafrika does seems to be two" stone ages" behind.Does he fall in that .01 percent of dissimilarity, and thus there lies the difference?
I hope my religion SCIENCE will soon put my queries to rest, meanwhile, I will continue perusing in books just incase I missed something.
100 Plus years after education was introduced, have you read anywhere an african discovering something worth international mention,or adopted?
Why have we compromised our culture and names? You hardly here mzungu naming his kids Munene, Okutoi,Ondieko, but africans are quick to name their kids,Nancy, Betty, Winterbottom...you get the drift.
I say again, if we are smart, we should be way ahead because we do not have to re-invent the wheel.Hard work has been done for us, scientifically speaking.
So what's wrong with mwafrika?
And yes pointing out that mwafrika is not the only backward homosapient will not rest my quest to find out why he is so behind on the human scale of progress.

I surely don’t have any ready answers but what I know is that my unfortunately sad statement is true - we have a serious deficiency when it comes to intellect. I guess it comes from the .01% difference you are alluding here. And there lies the main reason why we black folks are looked down upon around the world. You’ve summarized it really well. Sadly.

The Asian Tiger's corruption punishment is FIRING SQUAD.They don't care whether you are PM or Police Constable.Former Soth Korean President Kim was put to death in the 80s and another one,Park sentenced to 24 years jail for corruption. In Kenya, you can never be elected to any seat if you are not a thug.Right now majambazi Uhuru,Kibaki and Kirubi are being worshipped for stealing our loan billions to construct TWO RIVERS MALL.

Thank you Mr. Mutua. We ought to support anyone who is willing to address this issue
We have to stop this disease. Pure madness. There is a syndrome of corruption and it needs urgent and effective ways to eradicate. We are sending an S.O.S to all good wananchi to tackle this problem immediately. Corruption in Kenya has reached a dangerous level and the government seems to be impotent in dealing with it. All government employees ought to account for their wealth as a condition of employment.

Time has come for Mutua to tell Kenyans how he raked shs 400m.for starting "NAJIVUNIA KUWA MUKENYA" slogan during the Kibaki/Raila looting era.Jambazi Mutua paid himself the money for uprooting flowers and replacing them with QUARRY CHIPS in Nairobi roundabouts and along UHURU HIGHWAY.He was the govt spokesman then.
