Mama Ngina Kenyatta Speaks Ahead of President Uhuru's Swearing-in

Mama Ngina Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to accept the recent Supreme Court pronunciation on the October 26th repeat presidential election and soldier on together to build the country.

The former First Lady said that it is time for the nation to heal from deep wounds of political divisions prompted by the highly charged political period.

"It has been a difficult electioneering period that has left us perhaps more deeply divided than we have ever been. It is time to reconcile and move the country forward," she said.

The president's mother lamented that the extended political political environment has crippled the country's economy, stating that it was time to back to normal business.

"Time has come for you to return to your farms and businesses and work hard. We will only rebuild our country if we join hands and work together," she added.

Mama Ngina was speaking during the burial of Elizabeth Gathoni Koinange in Kiambaa, Kiambu County. Gathoni was the fifth wife of former colonial chief Mbiyu Wa Koinange. She died at the aged 117.
