Kenyan Community in the UK Mourns the Loss of Reverend Paul Kariuki Irad

Reverend Paul Kariuki Irad, a respected cleric of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Greater Britain Mission, passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2025.

His death has left the Kenyan community in the UK in mourning. Peter Mwangi, Chairperson of the Kenya Reading Organisation (KRO), confirmed the news on January 9, describing the loss as “devastating.” He expressed the profound sorrow felt by both the church and the wider Kenyan community in the UK.

Reverend Irad, who had been ordained only a few months earlier in October 2025, quickly became a well-loved leader within the PCEA GB Mission. His ordination marked a significant moment in his ministry, and his untimely death has shocked those who knew him and who had come to rely on his spiritual guidance.

Many in the Kenyan diaspora are grieving deeply, recalling the transformative impact Reverend Irad had on their lives. Known for his humility, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his congregation, he was seen as a figure of both spiritual and communal leadership. His influence extended beyond the pulpit, creating a sense of unity and spiritual growth among his community.

In response to the loss, members of the PCEA GB Mission and the broader Kenyan community have come together in prayer groups and support gatherings to comfort Reverend Irad’s family. The Kenya Reading Organisation (KRO) has stated that further details regarding funeral arrangements and community tributes will be shared once they are finalised.
