Comedian Makori Nyambane, whose stage name is Ayeiya Poa Poa or AKA, passed away in a road accident on Thursday night in Nairobi.

The comedian, known to many for his regular appearances on the popular Churchill show, had just finished a performance on the show and was driving along Magadi Road heading home when the car he was driving was involved in a grisly accident.

Ayeiya’s vehicle reportedly hit an electric post near the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), killing Ayeiya on the spot. His wife, Maina Lowenya and fellow comedian Paul Wakimani Ogutu, who were both traveling with him in the vehicle survived and are being treated for injuries at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Churchill led Ayeiya’s fans in eulogizing Ayeiya, posting this on twitter: “Death is so cruel sad news one of our Comedians, Emmanuel Makori (AKA) is no more. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family #RIPAyeiya.”
