Kenyans Want Services Not Prayers, ACK Provost Sammy Wainaina Tells President Ruto

All Saints Cathedral Provost Sammy Wainaina has castigated President Ruto’s administration for holding numerous prayer rallies instead of serving Kenyans.

Terming the prayer rallies inauthentic, the clergyman pointed out that Kenyans need services from the government and not prayers.

“What we need from government are not prayers; prayers we will make and we do make. What we need from government are services,” Wainaina told Spice FM in an interview.

“We are away from politics now. You promised to deliver, simply deliver. That’s all! Let’s not sanitize or try to make the government religious so that we don’t question them. If they said they are going to do something let them implement their manifestos,” he added.

Wainaina also criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his remarks that the Kenya Kwanza government is like a company in which some Kenyans have shares while others have none. Gachagua said those who supported and voted for President Ruto would be given priority in government appointments and contracts while others will share leftovers.

“When you hear a very senior government official saying that there are shares and you can be moved back in the line because you do not have shares, and that is coming from the number-two, you actually know that you are in real problems,” he said.

Wainaina challenged religious leaders close to Ruto’s administration to advise the leadership on being inclusive.

“Religious leaders who are close to that power can use their influence to tell them, ‘Hello, please be careful of what you say in public’ because there is a lot of careless talk from our political leaders,” Wainaina noted.

If the excellencies (Ruto and Governors) could address customer service in there domains, the Kenyan economy would grow like a bush fire. Imagine County planning offices working with developers, architects and engineers for health development. Imagine Thika road without hawkers (due to lack of enforcement and stupid drivers). Don't want to write anything about those health care providers in level 5 hospitals. If we just change the way we do things, we would be providing humanitarian to the East and West. Problem is that we have remained on same path, and still expect change. Who in Kenya does not know that January is a dry month?

I think they hope that this time, January will be different. We all know that hope is not a plan and good governments plan decades in advance. Unfortunately, despite knowing Kenya's population growth rate, weather cycles etc, Kenya's governments and the electorate seem to operate on a short term basis. Think about it Kano plains have been flooding since I can remember, droughts follow heavy rain almost like clockwork and everyone always seems shocked. The majority of Kenya's dams were built before Moi took power while the population is over 300% what it was at the 1979 census.

Dear provost Wainaina, just be a good kenyan. You have preached yourself out of a handsome donation, tithe, for when very good Christian Ruto visits your church. Your congregation deserves better. Money doesn't grow on trees and a tithe, even from Mr Ruto,is still welcome. God bless you but mostly your poor congregation.

This is just what we've been waiting to hear, somebody telling them to their faces to get over the euphoria of a win they never believed they could get and get down to work. They were never elected to pray, they were elected to perform. Either that or OUT!

The real man of God is simply telling Ruto to stop lying to Kenyans through fake prayers and start working for the people of Kenya. Right now Ruto is working for his people of Venezuela who stole the elections for him.

Kenya needs strong and honest men and women like Brother Wainana who will save us from the current madness about "prayers."

The CREATOR's work was finished when we received the gift of the brain during our short tenure (9 months) in our mother's womb.

At the moment countries like UAE, Israel, and Saudi Arabia are turning deserts into rich farm-lands not through prayers, but through the process of desalination. These nations are not praying for rain but using the CREATOR-given gift, the mighty brain not only to produce enough for their people to eat, but also for export.

It should be against the law to transform places of worship to political platforms, where current newly-elected servants of the people start premature campaigning for 2027 election year.

Samoei and Rigathi should join the seminary and join Wainana in his mission but stop mixing politics and religion. This combination will ultimately change Kenya from a prosperous nation, but to failed states such as Haiti and Somali.

All places of worship should discourage politicians from abusing their power and turning these places as platforms of campaigns. The should sit down and pray like anybody else or pray in their houses. Please read Matthew 6: 6-8.

This is where we failed as Africans (Kenyan), State & church should be separate entities..Religion shouldn’t influence one’s political decisions or that religion should not impact the views of those in office same to politics towards church practices!..

One cannot totally separate church from state.Christian Evangelicals propelled Trump into presidency.Iam sure even in Kenya many voted for Ruto because of his Christian faith. Same thing in NIgeria, even worse is countries that are ruled by Sharia law.The best one can hope for is that the ruling regime be fair to all its citizens, and should not discriminate against people because of their religious leanings, sexuality, race...etc.The usual drum beat.

Actually,Kenyans need prayers. But prayers that deliver the following:

1.Turn a bucketful of Omena into a truck load of Omenas
2.Turn barrel of water into gallons of Chang'a
3.Heal the sick the way Jesus did by touch
4.Have those who lie after stealing -to fall and die
If prayers can instantly deliver on these four, churches would only have standing rooms only, and donations would go through the roofs.
We are either praying the wrong way,or the prayers for whatever reason are not answered.Could it be because those praying are not sincere? Or are we praying to the wrong God...? Any takers?

This guy is blinder than darkness. How does prayers affect Dr Ruto from carrying his duties? He could b an LBG

Declare war against rampant insecurity, theft of public resources, poverty, and belief in payers as a remedy for solving our current problems.
Prayers and superstitions are identical twins. They (prayers) don't solve anything.
Stop praying and take action by working hard and accepting responsibility for all our words and deeds.

This guy has more sense than most politicians. He just nailed it. This is what he is telling these forever politicians. Stop the bullshit!!!!!!!!!!! You are being paid tons of money to deliver services to the wananchi. This nonsense of treating citizens like children is nothing but a facade. Keep prayers in your own church. The Provost make a lot of sense. The Wananchi want to see clean water, good roads, cheaper goods and foodstuff, better medical services, lower unemployment, a drastic change in official corruption, etc, etc. Less talk more action. For these reasons I truly support the Provost calling. More power to you.

It's time to double down on prayers and service delivery. Prayers isn't taking space of delivery and vice versa. Uhuru was a weedy drunk but no one told him to drop weed and drink.

Unfortunately too many believe that old trope that through prayer, anything is possible. Reality is you need a goal, a good plan, hard work and follow through. I can pray and believe I'll be in Mombasa tomorrow but if I don't have a passport, a plane ticket a ride to the airport etc I'll be stuck where I am.

This pastor should be fired. First he is telling us that prayer’s doesn’t work. Well what I know is that prayers can’t solve everything. But some.
