Nairobi Woman in Court for Refusing to Refund Sh730,000 Sent by US-Based Boyfriend

Nairobi Woman in Court for Refusing to Refund Sh730,000 Sent by US-Based Boyfriend

A Nairobi woman has been taken to court for allegedly refusing to refund over Sh700,000 sent by her former boyfriend after he moved to the US.

Beatrice Moige Bosire is said to have received a total of Sh734,308 from George Manyange to pay rent and furnish an apartment in Nairobi.

Manyange, who went to the US for further studies, sent the amount to Beatrice between July 2020 and September 2021, according to court documents.

“The 1st Respondent reported that she had found a house, House No 5G, Las Vegas Apartments, Astral, Utawala. The Claimant sent Sh734,308 over the period between July 2020 and September 2021 to pay for rent, deposit and to furnish the aforementioned apartment via MPESA and Send wave transfer,” the affidavit read in part.

The case filed at the small claims court further indicates that she received Sh39,500 from Manyange to buy an iPhone S9+.

In August this year, Beatrice informed Manyange that she had decided to reunite with her previous boyfriend and asked him to let her keep the apartment and the household items, promising to repay the money he spent in full over time.

Manyange declined and asked Beatrice to leave his belongings in the house, saying he would send a friend to collect the keys to the apartment.

But Beatrice went against his wishes and sold all his household items including a Hisense TV set, fridge, memo, l-shaped sofa set, white table, TV stand, microwave, cooker, sandwich maker, blender, iron box, and a 13kg gas cylinder among others.

“I have made efforts to reclaim the Sh734,308 owed by the 1st and 2nd respondents and even involved my mother and my friend in a bid to resolve the issue amicably. However, my efforts have proven futile due to the 1st respondent’s arrogance and disrespect,” Manyange says in the affidavit.

There's a saying in the streets of Nairobi that goes 'dame ako mbali sio wako'.
Whoever coined that might have had a rough experience themselves before coming up with the phrase.

Atleast, it's good to not involve chapaa in it at minimum till it becomes official.

~ been there done that.

Some of the common red flags to watch out for;

-She's run out of cash & faces eviction.
-The rent money you sent has paid off fuliza debts, so you need to resend.
-The pattern continues.

Was there a contract stipulating return of money/items if breakup occurs? If she broke up with you at the end of this period, do you want refund even for months you were 'together'? You cannot create a contract after the fact. Lick your wounds and move on.

Boyfriend, you are stupid to send all that money to a woman you have not married. The fact is that for the most part all women in Kenya are gold diggers. They will sweet talk you to think you are te only one in their life but behind the sceen there are other real and facebook lovers. Sorry you learned the hard way but move on

Isn't it too long ago another US-based Kisii found out he was being conned and came to Kenya to stop the con games and was later found beheaded? Bwana Manyanga, kiss your hard-earned dollars goodbye unless you want to meet your maker.

Was there a written agreement that if the relationship doesn't work, she would refund all the gifts he has given her? How does she get rent money back? He knew what he was doing and he shouldn't expect a refund because the relationship failed. However, she shouldn't have sold the staff in the apt out of her good heart.

This one was a dog, but the next one will be a full bred hyena! Get yourself a Mzungu na utulie! Very few Kenyan women are trust worthy!

At least you can have a normal conversation with a white woman! The rest are just hookers and colossal takers!

You are not alone bro! Many diaspora guys have been conned by women back home; myself included! A well learned lesson which you will never repeat it unless you are a dummy!

Don’t feel stupid to have been conned, at least it is only 700k shillings enough to buy her some G-Strings and then she will be very poor the rest of her life! Move on very first! You will make more money along the road…. Let it be bro!

Why worry about a foolish country woman you left back in the village? And how do you think she will wisely manage your money if she has never managed her own money before? For get those Kenyan women once you cross the Oceans! They will con you like the Devil!

She should not have sold the house hold items. She wants your stuff but she didn’t love you. This woman was a sure grabber of property. Moral of the story. Never try to impress a woman with material wealth. On the other hand I heard of a guy who happened to
Marry a mzungu who became a drug addict . Long story short she took everything and wound up broke later. It ain’t fair to judge women by race. It’s just like a ruffle you never really know the person who is sleeping next to you. Best thing to do is to lick your wounds and move on for your peace of mind.
