Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has been charged with three counts of assault, use of abusive language and causing disturbance.
The ODM MP was charged alongside his bodyguard Fanuel Owino, but both denied the charges and were freed on a sh20,000 personal bond.
The two are accused of assaulting a Nairobi county parking attendant by the name David Gichagu Wagana at a parking lot outside Fortis Towers in Nairobi's Westlands area on January 11th.
They were brought before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.
Babu was arrested on Friday afternoon outside Parliament Buildings after an alleged CCTV footage of him and his bodyguards assaulting the attendant outside the entertainment joint went viral on social media.
He spent Friday and Saturday night at Parklands police cells after attempts by opposition leaders and University of Nairobi students to have him released were unsuccessful.
He was released on a free bond on Sunday afternoon following intervention by Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.
The case will be heard on March 22nd.
