Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed's Husband Dies

Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed is mourning the death of her husband Khalid Hossain Ahmed. Ahmed died on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at Karen Hospital in Nairobi where he had been admitted.

Confirming his death, the family said the Nairobi businessman passed away after a sudden illness.

President Kenyatta eulogized Ahmed as a gentleman and a strong pillar of his family.

“I have received the disheartening news of the passing away of Mr. Khalid Ahmed with great sadness. Mr. Ahmed was a great person, a gentleman, and a strong pillar of his family,” Kenyatta said in a message of condolence to the family, relatives, and friends of CS Amina.

Kenyatta, who is currently on an official visit to the UK, remembered the late Ahmed as a gifted and successful businessman.

"It is very unfortunate that death has robbed our country of a gifted businessman whose contribution to the progress of our nation shall be dearly missed," he noted.

Tourism CS Najib Balala also sent a message of comfort to the bereaved family, mourning the departed businessman as a great man, generous to a fault, and a rock for his family.

“To my sister and colleague Amb. Amina Mohamed, I share the loss and sadness, please accept my deepest heartfelt condolence from my family and I.”

RIP Mr Khalid Ahamed. We have 40 million Kenyans. We cannot afford to talk and discuss death everyday.
Let us keep death business as private as possible just the way it is supposed to be. Let the dead rest in peace. Let death be left to family and close friends. ( A very private affair). Just as birth is a private affair.
Today in Kenya and in Africa we are promoting and advertising death as if it is the only thing we are looking forward to. Touching and discussing the dead was a taboo. Those who knew them, know what they did and did not do. It does not need to be made public.
Our enemies work very hard to keep us in a mobid mood. They work on our emotions.
After advertising death, they start advertising fights over wealth. Their business is to keep our people's spirits low. We must put aside our emotions and leave certain issues to the family.
We should work to put out of business those who are in the death business.
