KCSE Candidate who Revealed Plot to Kill President Kenyatta in an Exam Paper Arrested

Police have arrested a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate who allegedly wrote about a plot to kill President Kenyatta in one of his exam papers.

The student from Elimu Bora Secondary School in Mandera East revealed the plot in his English Paper One (functional skills) answer sheet.

The Star reports that the said student also said he would kill Garissa Township Member of Parliament and Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, Aden Duale.

The examiners are said to have come across the student's sheet while arranging papers ahead of commencement of marking.

The student was arraigned before Mandera resident magistrate Duncan Mtai who directed a mental assessment be carried out on him at the county hospital.

He will return to the court on Monday when the judge is expected to issue a ruling on whether police will continue to detain him pending conclusion of investigations.

This incident comes days after eight Ambira High School students who were caught on camera insulting Cabinet Secretaries Fred Matiang'i (Interior) and Amina Mohamed (Education) as well as confessing to have cheated in KCSE exam were arrested.

The eight were arrested after a video of them making the confession went viral on social media.

That boy did nothing bad. I suspect that the do called paper one or functional skills was a bit tough on the boy leaving him with no choice but to write Dow his mind. that's freedom exercised. freedom of expression. that boy shouldn't be bothered at all

It is high time parents, teachers and the entire community team up to curb the high rate of hooliganism among students. The blame game is not helping at all!!!

Both Kiswahili and English paper one are made to determine about creativity of a student so there no crime the student did.

I think corporal punishment should be re-introduced in our schools to a little bit lower the rate of indiscipline amongst our students.

This disaster is happening because some of the candidates are drug addicts and they do not care what they are doing and some of them are desparate since they have not been working hard in their secondary life! So we need to understand them and forgive them?!

this is all about creativity.. nothing else... coz nobody can simply wake up and start threatening top officials in the country.... seriously..

What proves the boy is the one who wrote on that paper and yet the examiners had touched it too.

The pupils are aware that canning is no more in school. At home it's more worse coz they are called mummy, daddy, guka, shushu, and surely how can you cane such people? Then they are aware of our government leaders who we see each day fighting in different parliaments. Kiongozi akiwa mbaya obviously wale wanao mfuata watakuwaje?
