Raila's ODM Party Acquires Sh180 Million New Offices in Nairobi

Opposition leader Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has reportedly acquired Sh180 million new headquarters in Nairobi.
ODM will move out of the iconic Orange House on Menelik Road in Kilimani area after more than 10 years of tenancy, The Standard reports.
The opposition party will relocate to brand new modern offices located in Lavington on December 31st, 2018.
“Everything is going on as planned, and from this week we will start painting the building with our orange colour and have any other thing fixed. We are also shopping for new items like furniture and cabinets for the new offices,” a party official tells The Standard.
“The party is in the final stages of meeting all the contractual agreements before it finally becomes the owner of the property. This is not a lease like the current offices, but we are acquiring the property.”
The move is reportedly part of the party's rebranding process ahead of the 2022 general elections.
The Raila-led political outfit announced plans of moving out of Orange House in June, 2018 but dismissed claims that the party was being evicted by the property owner, Caroli Omondi.
ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen explained that its proprietor plans to set up a multi-storey office block on the parcel.
"We have agreed not to renew the lease. This is due to the intention of the landlord to construct a multi- storey office block on the property in line with the current trends of land use in the neighborhood," Ong’wen said.
