Top UN Diplomat Heaps Praise on President Kenyatta for His Efforts in Fighting Corruption

A top United Nations diplomat has praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for the ongoing efforts in the war against corruption and economic crimes.

United Nations Economic Council for Africa’s (UNECA) Executive Secretary Vera Songwe hailed Uhuru for his unrelenting efforts in the war against graft terming him an "African champion."

“You are our corruption champion. Your Government’s sustained onslaught against corruption, economic crimes and impunity in Kenya is setting the pace for the rest of the continent,” Ms. Songwe noted.

The senior UN official was speaking during a meeting with President Kenyatta at State House Nairobi.

Songwe briefed Kenyatta on UNECA’s ‘HonestService’ Campaign launched in June this year. The project encourages the youth in Africa to tweet using the hash tag #honestservice each time they get a service without having to give a bribe.

Songwe also assured of UNECA's support to President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four Agenda  especially in achieving affordable housing.
