Rigathi Gachagua Celebrates Wife’s Ordination as Reverend in Nyeri

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua paid tribute to his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, as she was ordained a Reverend in Nyeri on Saturday.

Gachagua described the event as both a public confirmation of her calling and a personal moment of pride for their family. He highlighted her long commitment to Christian service and said her integrity and compassion had been clear throughout her ministry.

“From the earliest days, I have witnessed her unwavering dedication to the word of God,” he said, adding that the ordination recognised qualities expected of a servant of Christ.

He portrayed Pastor Dorcas as the foundation of their family, noting her role as a steady influence at home while extending her support to vulnerable groups. Her outreach to widows, orphans, people living with disabilities and particularly the boy child has shaped her public identity, earning her the nickname “Mama Boys.”

Gachagua also spoke about the impact of her work within their household, calling his family among the first to benefit from her ministry. He praised her humility and constant compassion, saying these qualities had made the message of Christ tangible for many.

“Her ministry has been a beacon of hope and compassion. Through these acts, she has made the love of Christ visible and transformative in the lives of many,” he said.

He thanked their children for supporting her mission and noted that the family contributes part of their income to her outreach programmes. With humour, he remarked that the contribution had become a routine expectation, though one he believed supported meaningful work.

Gachagua said the ordination was especially rewarding after years of effort and sacrifice. “We have seen her work, and work hard,” he noted, emphasising the authenticity of her vocation. He ended his tribute by congratulating his wife, telling the congregation, “Let me join the voice in saying, congratulations, my love.”
