Raila Tells Off Foreign Envoys over Kenya's Election

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has accused foreign envoys of meddling in Kenya's political affairs.

Speaking during a rally in Gusii stadium on Monday, the opposition leader faulted the diplomats for interfering with the repeat presidential election.

He accused the envoys of asking Kenyans to participate in an election that "will not be credible and will only throw the country into deeper political crisis."

The former Prime Minister wondered why the diplomats were yet to come out to speak about the resignation of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner Roselyn Akombe.

Odinga said the envoys' silence on the revelations by Dr Akombe and IEBC Chairman, Wafula Chebukati that the commission could not guarantee a credible election raised questions.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) further said the foreign mission wad crossing the line by meddling with the elections and insisted that there will be no elections this month.

“There will be elections in Kenya soon but not this month (October)” Odinga said.

His sentiments were echoed by Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino, who alleged that the diplomats were on Jubilee's payroll.

“We maintain that envoys on Jubilee government's payroll must keep off Kenya's election. We will resume our Nationwide anti IEBC demos tomorrow to agitate for permanent reforms in our electoral system,” stressed Owino.

In a statement on Monday, the diplomats, led by US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec called on Odinga to re-enter the race and argued that IEBC was ready to hold the poll.

"The Supreme Court discovered a number of irregularities and illegalities in delivering the historic verdict. I think IEBC has met a number of demands to allow NASA participate in the repeat polls. But it's their right to participate or not to, however we call for peaceful boycott on Thursday," Godec said.

Oh now he is doing rallies not campaigning and what the hell is that he is holding like King Julien of Madagascar. The foreign envoys have seen what you are and do not want part of your madness

Foreign envoys should shut their mouths. A sham election will only lead to chaos and loss of lives. Kenyan lives matter
