Police Investigate Multiple Violent Deaths Across Several Kenyan Counties

Several counties in Kenya are under investigation following a series of violent deaths reported over the past week, with police probing multiple killings marked by disturbing circumstances and unclear motives.

In Kilifi County, detectives are investigating the murder of 40-year-old Dama Kingi Charo, whose body was found inside her home in Majajani, Kijipwa. She had suffered fatal head injuries, and police recovered a wooden object believed to have been used in the attack.

Officers said the body had remained undiscovered for some time. It was taken to a local mortuary for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue. In Siaya County, the body of 33-year-old motorcycle taxi operator David Amollo, known locally as Jeshi, was discovered by the roadside in Bar-Olengo.

He had deep cuts, and his motorcycle was missing. Police suspect he was killed during a robbery, part of a growing trend of violent attacks on boda boda riders in the area. Authorities have urged riders to prioritise safety and report suspicious activity.

In Kisumu County, workers in the Kibos area of Miwani found a human skull in a sugarcane plantation, along with a pair of sports shoes and a dress. No other remains were located. The items were taken to a mortuary for forensic testing and identification, and police are treating the case as a possible homicide.

In Kirinyaga County, Simon Ngare Warui was allegedly attacked and killed by a group of private traders in Ngando village after being accused of theft. His body was later found abandoned by the roadside. Police condemned the killing and warned against mob justice, urging residents to report suspects to the authorities instead.

In another case in Maemba village, Ndori, Siaya County, 63-year-old Alice Atieno was found dead in her bedroom. Her employee, who had been called to the home earlier, discovered her body in a pool of blood. A kitchen knife and a jembe were recovered from the scene, along with blood-stained curtains and her mobile phone. The motive is still unknown, and no arrests have been made.

In Samburu County’s Baragoi area, a domestic dispute turned fatal when 65-year-old Pangi Lengewa was struck on the head with a club during an argument. He died shortly after being taken to hospital. Police have arrested the suspect and recovered the weapon used in the attack. Local leaders have called for stronger community conflict-resolution efforts.

In Migori County, 28-year-old Velma Kwamboka died after a section of an abandoned gold mining site collapsed in Karosi, Kegonga. She was part of a group exploring the area when the ground caved in. Three others were rescued and taken to hospital.
