Kalonzo: I Will Stop Raila From Staging Protests

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka said on Sunday that he would stop opposition leader Raila Odinga from leading demonstrations against the government.
Speaking at a church service in Kajiado County, Kalonzo stressed that holding the government accountable does not lie only on the opposition's shoulders. He emphasized that each Kenyan must speak out against governmental excesses including the unjustly enacted taxes. His statement came as a response to calls by the clergy for opposition politicians to challenge the government's unjust activities.
''You can't wait for just Kalonzo and Raila and Kalonzo to go back to demonstrations, I can't allow Raila to go back to demonstrations, let the country do it,'' he stated
Earlier in the week, Azimio leader Raila Odinga castigated the government's move to demolish properties at Mavoko, threatening to take action unless the demolitions are halted. Kalonzo further claimed that there was a deliberate plot to assassinate Raila during the recent anti-government demonstrations which set the scene for the current bipartisan talks. Kalonzo implored politicians from both factions to approach the dialogue earnestly.
The Azimio Co-principal condemned the recent Mavoko demolitions, arguing that the government should have taken into account the welfare of the affected families. Kalonzo underscored the significance of treating every citizen equally as stated in the law. Kalonzo was joined by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua who hinted at going back to the street when called upon.
''We will advocate for our rights in a way that does not depict us as lesser citizens but as equal under the law,'' Kalonzo further stated.
