Couple Arrested for Conning a Nairobi Woman of Sh11 Million in Fake Diamonds Scam
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested a couple linked to a fake diamonds syndicate that has been defrauding unsuspecting victims.
Peter Mboya (52) and Redempta Nduku (34) are alleged to have conned a Nairobi-based woman who works as a management consultant of over Sh11 million in a diamonds scam.
The two were arrested in Kilimani, Nairobi in an operation that led to the recovery of Sh19 million in fake US dollars concealed in a briefcase.
“This followed a report filed by the complainant after what first appeared to be a lucrative lifetime venture, turned out to be a joke and the biggest fraud the woman has ever experienced in her life,” DCI said.
The victim was lured into the dubious trade by one engineer Irungu, who introduced her to an alleged Botswana national named Peter Malobe.
Malobe turned out to be an established dealer in the export of diamonds to an Australian-based company known as BHP.
The woman was required to be part of the diamonds export business to start “reaping big from it and establish a financial empire.”
She was tricked into parting with millions of shillings, which was purportedly meant for license acquisition from the Ministry of Mining, customs and clearance fees for the diamonds, penalties, stamps, and transfer fees among other charges.
By the time she realized that she was a victim of fraud, the woman had lost a total of Sh11 million.
The two suspects are being detained pending arraignment to face charges of obtaining money by false pretenses.

Kumbe even WaKamba na WaJaluo know how to EAT/con?The story is about Nduku and Mboya conning an educated lady off shs 11m.But I doubt whether she is a qualified management consultant.Maybe she was Raila,Waititu,Joho,Kabogo,Ngilu’s etc classmate.The other case has FKF president,Nick Mwenda and a Bary Otieno EATING more than shs 700m from the soccer federation.That means all Luos and Kamba are well represented in looting.But that marks the END of the two cases.
