Moses Kuria: I’m Open to Working with Gachagua If He Stops Insulting Our Leaders

Moses Kuria has signalled a willingness to reconcile with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, describing him as the “undisputed kingpin” of the Mount Kenya region and suggesting the possibility of future political cooperation.

Kuria made the remarks on Saturday evening, indicating a potential shift in the political dynamics within Mount Kenya ahead of the 2027 general elections. Drawing a comparison to the recent reconciliation between President William Ruto and KANU leader Gideon Moi, Kuria suggested he too was open to dialogue, on condition that Gachagua halts his public attacks on other leaders, particularly women.

His statement comes days after a video surfaced showing Gachagua accusing Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru of working with the presidency to divide the region’s leadership. Kuria criticised the remarks, calling on Gachagua to treat fellow leaders with respect.

“Kindly refrain from insulting our leaders in general, our women leaders in particular and all Mt Kenya women by extension,” he said.

Despite having been impeached last year, Gachagua continues to play a prominent role in regional politics. He has maintained strong grassroots support and is widely seen as a key figure in shaping Mount Kenya’s future political direction.
