Tob Cohen Murder Case: Suspect Sarah Wairimu Demands Phone Records of Three Uhuru Relatives

Murder suspect Sarah Wairimu is demanding phone records of three of President Kenyatta’s close relatives in a case where she is accused of killing her Dutch husband, Tob Cohen.

Through her lawyer Philip Murgor, Wairimu is seeking the records as part of the evidence to be used in unraveling the murder of the Dutch businessman, who was found dead in September this year, according to Standard Digital.

She wants the State to supply her with details of all calls and SMS sent by President Uhuru’s first cousin, Ngengi Muigai, his wife Wangui Ngengi and Captain Muigai Kungu for a period of three months. Kungu is also a cousin of Uhuru.

Wairimu, who does not specify why she is seeking the records, wants to be provided with details of all calls and SMS by the three and 20 other persons between July 1st and September 30th.

Wairimu is charged with the murder of Cohen alongside Peter Karanja, the estranged husband to Gilgil MP Martha Wangari. The two are out on bond.

Among other persons whose phone records she is seeking is Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, former MP Patrick Muiruri and State prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki.

Wairimu also wants to be given call data of all the persons lined up by the prosecution as witnesses in the murder case.

Cohen, who had lived in Kenya for 32 years, went missing on July 19th before he was found dead on September 13th.

His decomposing body was retrieved from an underground water tank at his home in Nairobi’s Kitisuru estate.  He was buried at the Jewish Cemetery in Nairobi on September 24th.

A competent court would not allow such a request. Being a suspect does not give anyone rights to personal accounts of other individuals. They will have to be more specific with their requests. Hope the judge will make the ruling in a timely manner for the case to get to full trial.
