Six Luxury Cars Stolen Abroad Seized in Kenya

Detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday impounded six luxury vehicles that were allegedly stolen abroad and shipped to Kenya.

The high-end cars, including three Mercedes-Benzes and three Range Rovers, were seized at Mombasa port by detectives drawn from DCI’s Serious Crime Unit.

Two of the cars were reportedly stolen from the United Kingdom and South Africa and smuggled into Kenya, according to DCI.

Investigations by Interpol established that one of the Mercedes Benz was stolen from a South African national identified as Mrs. Tshegofasto Mabyane while a Mercedes Benz was stolen from the UK.

DCI said the two cars will be handed to the International Criminal Police Organization for further processing.  
“No one will steal from one country and enjoy the sweat of others while in another country,” DCI warned.

Three of the remaining cars were found to have evaded tax as they were processed as semi-trailers while the last vehicle, a Range Rover, had a Toyota Probox registration number.
