Three Cabinet Secretaries under Probe for Reportedly Flying to Italy to Receive Bribes

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti have reportedly launched investigations against three Cabinet Secretaries over involvement in corruption.

The Standard reports that the three Cabinet Secretaries allegedly received bribes worth millions of shillings in Rome, Italy.

The publication says that the three CSs flew to Italy alongside other government officials to receive kickbacks from contractors in order to give them State tenders.

In exchange, the CSs are said to have colluded with procurement officials to award the contractors State tenders worth more than Sh7 billion.

The directors of the Italian company were summoned by the DCI and have recorded statements over the allegations.

“Some of the things they do in Kenya they can’t do in their own countries,” DPP Haji is quoted by the Standard.

Haji also says his office is investigating claims that government officials have been demanding kickbacks from contractors before illegally awarding them with tenders.

There are claims that several government projects have stalled because State officials have been asking for a 10 percent share of the contract.

On Wednesday, Interior CS Fred Matiang'i chaired a meeting between contractors and top State officials over the stalled projects.

Matiang'i has warned that contractors found guilty of bribing public officers to get tenders will be prosecuted and deported.

So the corruption is being perpetrated by appointees of the boy in statehouse. How about he shows some seriousness by suspending them.

What Kenya needs is tame it's own citizens. We need death sentence against corruption. If that will not be provided in law, we need mob justice against all corrupt officials. No wonder locals don't get government contracts. DEATH SENTENCE IS THE SOLUTION IN KENYA!!
Corrupt officials are the real enemies of Kenyans!!
God save Kenya!!

Business as usual in Kenya. Corruption in Kenya is a disease being perpetuated by government officials. We need a cure fast. The government officials will never be able to police themselves. Never, ever. There are no real consequences so these corrupt people continue to commit economic crimes unabated.
