Retired President Daniel Moi Celebrates 93rd Birthday
Kenyans took to social media to wish retired President Daniel Arap Moi well as he celebrates his 93rd birthday on Saturday.
A majority on users sent goodwill messages to the retired head of state and wished him good health and a longer life.
Moi ruled Kenya for 24 years and handed over to President Mwai Kibaki in 2002. He remains Kenya's longest serving president.
Moi took over from Kenya's first President Mzee Komo Kenyatta following his death in 1978.
He has mentored several leaders including current President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto, and opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi among other past and present Kenyan leaders.
Mzee Moi enjoys retirement at his rural Kabarak home in Nakuru County amid reports of failing health.
Here are some of happy birthday messages by Kenyans to the retired head of state.
"Happy birthday to a man of substance. My father and Mentor. May God grant you more and more years ahead," His son and Baringo Senator Gedion Moi said.

The billionaire (in dollars) looks sad because had it not been for the second liberators of Kenya, he (Toroitich) would still be in our state house and Uhuru and Ruto would still be singing, " Tawala Kenya Tawala."
That's why Uhuru should step down and let Kiraitu Murungi run for the Jubilee Alliance presidential election coming within 60 days. Kiraitu suffered under dictator Toroitich's criminal and dictatorial rule! He was in exile for about two years.
Long live all the second liberators of our Republic of Kenya. Cowards and sycophants of Toroitich should go back to whatever they were doing before they were politically rescued and nurtured by this criminal dictator.
