Why Citizen TV Bosses Asked Journalist Jacque Maribe to Resign

News anchor Jacque Maribe allegedly quit Citizen TV last week after pressure from Royal Media Services (RMS) bosses, reports indicate.
Quoting a Citizen TV insider, K24 Digital reported that Ms. Maribe tendered her resignation from the station after the broadcaster's management asked her to do so.
The managers were reportedly unhappy with the journalist after she was pictured at Muthaiga Police Station in the company of Jubilee digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, who had been arrested in connection with a fake letter that alleged there was a plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.
On that day- July 3rd, Ms. Maribe had reportedly requested to be excused from work “over personal reasons.”
“The bosses felt that she had duped them into giving her time off work. Immediately after pictures of Maribe in the company of Itumbi at Muthaiga police cells went viral, one of the bosses called her on phone and asked her to either resign or face the sack,” K24 Digital quoted their source.
“Of course, she chose to resign. That matter brought a lot of friction between Maribe and the bosses.”
Maribe was charged with the murder of Kenyan businesswoman Monica Kimani last October alongside her boyfriend Joseph Irungu alias Jowie.
Ms. Monica was found dead at her apartment in Lamuria Gardens in Nairobi's Kilimani Estate hours after she returned to the country from South Sudan, where she allegedly managed her family's business.
Her body had been dumped in a bathtub with hands and legs tied, and throat slit.
Maribe was granted bail by Justice Wakiaga but was ordered not to appear on TV until the case is concluded.
This forced her employer to move her to the editorial department. The political reporter worked with Royal Media Services since 2012.
Maribe is yet to speak about her resignation.
