Gov't Urges Kenyans in Ukraine to Urgently Consider Leaving

The government has urged Kenyans living and studying in Ukraine to urgently consider leaving the country in the wake of Russia’s invasion.

Through the Kenyan Embassy in Vienna, Austria, the government further advised those wishing to stay in Ukraine to exercise increased caution.

“All Kenyans living or studying in Ukraine are hereby advised to urgently consider leaving and stay away until further notice,” reads the statement from the embassy.

On Thursday, Kwale Woman Representative Zulekha Hassan asked the Foreign Affairs Ministry to give a statement outlining the measures being taken to bring back Kenyans caught up in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Hassan says some Kenyans working and studying in the Eastern European nation are trapped there and need to be evacuated due to the unfolding humanitarian crisis. She called on the government to consider evacuating its citizens to safer regions within Ukraine or to the neighboring nations.

Russian troops invaded Ukraine on Thursday after President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine as independent states.

Ukraine says at least 137 people, including civilians and soldiers, have been killed since Russia launched the attacks in the early hours of Thursday.

United Nations estimates suggest that more than 100,000 Ukrainians have already fled from their homes.

@Collusion the war drums were beating for a long time. These people had access to the internet and Biden warned about the impending invasion for weeks. He even warned it was going to happen after the winter Olympics. Don't people have to take some responsibility for their action or in this case, inaction?

True mundumugo but….si hii government ingekimya tu? Ukiongea too late inaonekana wewe hujui to guide your own. Government is responsible for taking care of it’s citizens. Mundumugo that’s why sisi kila mtu maai mahiu mzima tuko Ruto kumi. Why? We believe he’s good at listening to intelligence than Uhuru ama guuka raila. Why….duh…he’s a doctor and for one to be a doctor lazima ukuwe very smart. Uhuru? Tuliskia alinunua degree yake america sikujua watu wanaweza patiwa hongo hata US. I may be wrong about kitu kidogo in the US but very soon president Ruto alituambia atatusaidia kabisa maai mahiu mtu mwenye anataka kujiendeleza in life….hata kama ni kwenda majuu for either them or their kids we will have that opportunity. Maybe soon tutaona huko America bro. It will be an honor of my life kukutana na wewe huko America 😊

Even in the US PhD degrees can be had for donations:
Exhibit a) Bill Cosby has a PhD from UMass Amherst for doing a dissertation on Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids and for which he got course credit for appearing on Sesame Street and The Electric Company. It gets better, his BA was bestowed upon him for his life experiences by his hometown university, Temple. In the immortal words of Public Enemy, don't believe the hype.
As far Ruto, he wants power and with people like you, he may well get it. But know this, Ruto has a 30 year history of using political violence against people like you and me up to and including burning. He has in past treated us like nyenje and once he has the power he won't need you anymore and you will be back to being like a cockroach. Kenya stagnated from 1978 to the early 2000s under the despotic rule of Ruto's mentor. This will be Moi part 2 and I don't see it ending any better for Kenya.
