Kenyan Youth Invited to Apply for US Exchange Program Offering 3-Month Visas

Kenyan youth aged 21-27 are invited to apply for the US State Department-sponsored Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) Program.

The program is a fully funded initiative designed to cultivate leadership skills and drive community transformation. Applications for the 2026 cohort are due May 22nd. The CEE Program offers emerging civil society leaders a three-month residency in the United States, coupled with a year-long leadership development curriculum. Participants gain hands-on experience through placements within US-based organisations, receiving mentorship and engaging in practical projects.

A key element of the program is the design and implementation of a Community Engagement Project (CEP) upon the fellow's return home, ensuring that acquired knowledge and resources translate into measurable local impact. The program targets individuals with a minimum of two years of professional or volunteer experience in civil society or community development. Successful applicants, representing over 100 countries including Kenya, will receive comprehensive financial support.

This includes all-expenses-paid travel, a monthly stipend covering accommodation and living expenses, health insurance for the duration of the program, and funding for their CEP initiatives. The US Embassy in Nairobi is encouraging eligible Kenyan citizens to seize this opportunity, emphasising the program's potential to empower young leaders and contribute to sustainable community development.

By removing financial and logistical obstacles, the CEE Program strives to be accessible to qualified individuals worldwide. Through immersive experiences and collaborative projects, the CEE Program aims to foster innovation and tackle shared global challenges. For Kenya, participation offers a platform to amplify local voices and contribute to international dialogues on community development.
