Former KDF Chief Samson Mwathethe Among President Ruto’s Latest Appointees to State Agencies

President Ruto has made several appointments in various government parastatals and other bodies.

In a gazette notice dated February 3rd, Ruto appointed former Chief of Defense Forces General Samson Mwathethe as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) for a period of three years.

Mwathethe, who retired from his position as CDF in 2020 after a five-year stint, replaces John Waithaka whose appointment by former President Uhuru Kenyatta has been revoked by President Ruto.

The president appointed Dr. Jane Lagat as Chairperson of the Women Enterprise Fund Advisory Board for a three-year term.

Joseph Kimani Machiri, Claire Sifuna Wanyama, Ahmed Abdi Rashid, Mary Murangi Mugo, and Caroline Cherono Kilisha have been named as members of the State Corporations Advisory Committee for a period of three years.

In addition, Ruto appointed Aden Noor Ali as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority for a period of three years and Mzee Mwinyi Mzee as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority for a three-year term.

Ruto also announced the revocation of several other appointments made during his predecessor Kenyatta’s tenure as part of the government’s efforts to align with the Kenya Kwanza agenda.

They include Prof. Wanjiku Kabira- Chairperson of the Women Enterprise Fund Advisory Board, Amb. Dennis Awori- member of the State Corporations Advisory Committee, Agnes N. Odhiambo- Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority, Phillip Charo- Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority, and Muad Mohammed Khalif- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority.

Others are Fouzia Abass- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority, Hassan Rashid Nzinga- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority, Jeff Saye- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority,   Julius Kariuki Ndegwa- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority, Ibrahim Khamis- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority, andAbdullahi Mohamed Abdi- member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority.
