Kenya Gov't to Hold Mass Weddings for Police Officers to Encourage Family Values

Kenya Second Lady Dorcas Rigathi has said the government will support police officers to solemnize their marriages through mass weddings.

Mrs. Rigathi, who is a pastor, said the initiative will be handled under the Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President (OSDP) in a bid to uphold family values and chaplaincy.

Speaking on Sunday during the commissioning of 11 police officers to be bishop, evangelists, and pastors at the Nyeri Administration Police Line, Mrs. Rigathi promised to personally attend the annual mass weddings in support of strong families for police.

"We shall work together to strengthen families and to promote the sanctity and dignity of marriage. We shall encourage cohesive families and in order to do this with the National Police Service we shall organize marriages for uniformed police in mass weddings every year," she said.

She pointed out that her office will work together with the police chaplaincy led by Chief Chaplain of the APs Bishop Dr. Kipkoech Kibet in advocating for strong family values across the security service.

While affirming her belief that strong families are the basic unit of society, the Second Lady said she has been married to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for 35 years.

“There is a transformation happening in this country, even as we witness today’s occasion of our security officers being commissioned to the priesthood. I urge all officers to always stand by the truth, and they will succeed,” she added.

MMmmm... the sanctity and dignity of marriage will only be upheld if the participants are "marriage worthy".Year after year, the Transparency International ranks police in Kenya as the most corrupt entity in the country. This corruption undoubtedly spills into the" marriage-sphere". A bad cop is a bad apple. No amount of prayers will sanitize the rotten part.
Good police force and hence the extension in to their marriages starts with the recruitment of men and women of integrity.Nonetheless,it is always good to say the right things especially in public even if we are mindful that on one will take them seriously or take heed them.Politicians are good at that.
By the way, the disintegration of marriages we see today is a reflection of our rotten morals, and it affects all sectors of our society.Even the clergy is not spared. Time to retrace our step back to where we deviated and take corrective measures.Otherwise we shall remain on this destructive trajectory for afew decades. My two cents.

@Simamaimara,see that's the problem.People go into dating blindly. No wonders they struggle to sustain the union. No sure if this applies to Kenya, but studies have shown that only 20% of men are attractive, and are pursued by 80% of women.Wow,talk of disproportionality...and mismatching. Is there any wonder that marriages are failing miserably.I now see why 75% of divorces are instigated by women. They all want to fish from the 20% pool, which is over crowded due to high demand,so they settle for mediocrity in that pool. And for the unattractive 80% of men, you better have resources. As for me Iam fishing in VeraCruz, the pond is pretty clean,,,so far.

It looks like you got your ducks in a row. Men looks don't matter to women, it's just brains and Money. The rich woman might go for looks. Let the dating game continue. Only Adam had no dating choices and Dowry to pay.

At Maxiley,
Who is the standard of beauty ( what you refer as attractive)?
Beauty is on the eyes of the beholder
If beauty is money, you are wrong.
What you think is attractive to you, will make another throw up at its sight. What is ugly to you may be the most beautiful thing to me.
Do some soul Searching. Wisdom is not in books or money.

That's why I framed it the way I did without trying to describe what beauty is.As you said it varies from person to person. However, most of us will agree that Miss Kenya is beautiful.By whatever standards they use to pick her.
As for resources,I was pretty much referring to hypergamy.
I am having hard time making sense out of your last sentence. Anyway, I hope I clarified my position.

No amount of prayers will save a philanderous man or woman or a jealous partner who decides they want to end not only their own lives but that of their partner and sometimes the children too who never signed up for any of it just because they happen to own a gun.Public displays of affection or elaborate wedding ceremonies do not guarantee a happy or even lasting marriage.Maybe this is her pitch for a TV reality show.Deputy First Lady conducts mass weddings for the police women and men of Kenya

Stop behaving like a cult. Leave this kind of thing to Rev. Moon of South Korea. Separation of church and state very important.

Why create these useless offices,I.e,first, second lady’s offices? There are also first & second lady/gentlemen offices at county level. Why waste huge amounts of money on these offices which have no official functions other than EATING?I wish waRuto & waRigathi could be campaigning for availability of condoms which are in big demand by ERECT/ON HEAT Kenyans.
