Kenyan University Student Charged with Stealing a Phone, Passport and Sh830,000 from a Foreign Diplomat

A Kenyan university student was arraigned in court for allegedly stealing a phone, passport, and cash from a foreign national.
Veronica Njeri, a third-year student at a local university, is accused of stealing from Kabba Ibrahim, a diplomat who hails from Sierra Leone.
Appearing before Kibera senior principal magistrate Esther Boke, Njeri was charged with stealing a phone worth Sh143,000, a passport valued at Sh262,440, Sh30,000 in Kenyan currency, and Sh800,000 in US dollars.
The charge sheet reads that the 23-year-old student committed the offenses on November 8th together with another lady who went into hiding.
“She had only met the Sierra Leone national three days earlier and informed him that she was drunk at a nearby entertainment joint and was in dire need of help,” the court heard.
Ibrahim rushed to the club and met Njeri in the company of another lady whose name he cannot recall. After realizing that the two were drunk, the diplomat took them to his house.
Upon arrival, Njeri requested to use the washroom and asked Ibrahim to accompany him as she needed to vomit. When they came back, they found the other woman had left with Ibrahim’s valuables and only left behind a Sim card.
Ibrahim reported the matter at Milimani police station. When Njeri sobered up the following morning, she denied knowing the woman who had accompanied her to Ibrahim’s house.
Upon interrogation, police decided to arrest and charge Njeri with theft. She denied the charges and was released on a Sh300,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount or an alternative of Sh100,000 cash bail.

Don't bash all kenyan women. Thieves are everywhere, men or women. All of is must exercise due diligence and caution before ‘helping’ any person you meet of find in strange places? Commonsense is vital here. For example, how do you invite someone you have barely meet to your house just because they called you to tell you they are too drunk?? How did these stranger get your number? This story is half baked and lacks all the details. Was this so called ‘diplomat’ hiring services of prostitutes that he cannot reveal and services he refused to pay for? The whole story just doesn’t add up!!!!

Njeri and this guy know each other...they are no strangers. The other guy might be a stranger to the guy, yes, not Njeri.

Waaaait a minute! This Diplomat got what he deserved.
A young woman calls you for help because she is drunk, and you take the two drunk girls to your house? Why didn't she drop them at their place? What was his motive; picking up drunk college kids? What is the friendship between a diplomat, and two jobless college kids? Who has power here? And who was sober? Ujinga tuwaache. Don't blame the victims of his bad intentions.
Leave Njeri and her friend alone. This man's motives were not good. So, he got what he deserved.

It hard to prove the allegations without evidence as opposed to Mpesa transactions. These two women can easily walk. The unfortunate ones are the one who steal through Mpesa. It's hard to prove money was stolen in cash form. The passports though does not serve these women a purpose. They should just leave it laying somewhere so it can be easily noticed and returned to the rightful owner. Moral of the story, avoid these drunk women of the night. If you must go out with them then go out with defensive dating in mind such as motel rooms and carry the least amount of cash you need and no crucial documents on you such as ID and passports.

No, stolen passports are useless nowadays as they have biometric data of the bearer embedded in the electronic chip electronically. It is impossible to forge diplomatic passports as all countries were ordered to get the biometric ones with the deadlines having passed 5 years ago. You cannot change your fingerprints and facial recognition features all of which are now stored electronically in the passport identification and data base systems!

Njeri might suffer as there is no honor among thieves. Her friend might not give her her deserved cut. She is probably enjoying the fruits of her labor alone somewhere. Or her friend may have paid bail for her. Who knows. The poor fellow should have gone for very comely women who none wants and those that don't go out and drink. Tough lesson for the poor drunk. Stupid games win stupid prices.
