First Batch of Kenyan Nurses Prepares to Leave for the UK
Kenya is set to send the first group of nurses to the United Kingdom in October, the government has said.
The nurses will be employed in the UK National Health Service (NHS) under a bilateral labor agreement between Kenya and the UK.
The MoU on the Kenya-UK Health Workforce Collaboration, which provides a framework for the exchange of healthcare workers between the two countries, was signed during President Kenyatta’s visit to London in July.
A Kenyan delegation led by Labor CS Simon Chelugui and Health PS Susan Mochache is currently in London to discuss the final touches of the implementation of the agreement.
The officials are seeking to negotiate for better terms for Kenyan health professionals set to be employed by the UK government.
Chelugui said Kenya will be sending about 20,000 nurses to the UK to address a shortage of 62,000.
There are nearly 900 Kenyan nurses presently working in the UK public healthcare system.
The first cohort of between 1,000 and 2,000 Kenyan caregivers is expected to leave for the UK by October 15th.

So true. I know a travel nurse who by all indications is pulling in doctor wages. The only drawback he is out of state months at a time. I know some would criticize but Kenya has a surfeit of labor and there is a shortage here. If the US can license them, even on the low end it's more than they will ever make in Kenya. If you can work and live in Florida or TX and a few others, the tax situation is very good. Maybe Ndugu Maxiley can help

Anyway, how were the 900 kenyan nurses already working in UK recruited? Was it under another program to address nursing shortage...just curious?

Go to Uk where people r dying with CoVid at your own will.If u get there work n invest hapa home,don’t b like many who went to majuu n got lost never invested home n years back they regret.East or west home is the best especially as you hit 50’s u will regret u lost in touch with mother country.Am happy after moving to usa in my 23 I was able to get back b4 am 40 years n am enjoying my stress life free with less worries.It’s good I realised early enough too much money is not everything.

So many factors in play: one's calling, destiny, economy, politics, kids/grandkids, God's perfect will, parent's needs, etc. Some returned home but economics rerouted them back.
