Pilot Who Flew Kenyans for 8 Years in Court for Using Fake Papers to Join Aviation School

A man accused of forging academic documents to enroll in pilot training has appeared in court.

Ahmad Nassir Dirie Olow, who flew Kenyans for eight years, is charged with making a false certificate for the 2007 KCSE examination, purporting it to be from the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).

He is alleged to have used the fake KCSE certificate to enroll in pilot training at Ninety Nines Flying School in Wilson Airport, Nairobi on July 30th, 2011.

Olow is said to have presented the false certificate to Lt. Col. Amin Ali, the head of training at Ninety Nines Flying School.

On Thursday, Wajir High School Principal Aden Kassim told the court that Olow did not sit for KCSE at the institution.

Kassim, who was testifying before Milimani senior principal magistrate Esther Kimilu, said the accused has never been a student at the school.

“I can confirm that through our school admission records, the said student Ahmed Nassir Dirie Olow was not our student, and index No 468021/012 is not our school code. Our correct school code is 46802101/012 and this index number belongs to one student namely Abdi Adow Yusuf and not Ahmed Nassir Dirie Olow as quoted,” he told the court.

The teacher noted that the KCSE certificate allegedly originating from the school was forged.

Another witness Adan Ali, who is a pilot and a director at Ninety Nines Flying Schools, told the court that he trained Olow and that he is qualified to fly.

But he admitted that the school did not verify documents submitted by Olow during his admission.

“We only do a physical verification of the documents in a way of comparing the documents with originals and ensuring the names match,” the pilot added.

Olow had reportedly been working as a pilot for an unnamed company for eight years before his arrest and arraignment early this year.

The hearing continues.

Apparently he was certified, and thus competent to fly for at least 8 years. Well dont we hear that about 40% of public servants have used fake papers to gain employment.Terrible low hanging fruits of corruption.Anybody with cash, and connects seems to just reach out and pluck them.
Yes as we read this piece,we are joined by many with fake papers.I wonder what's going on in their minds?

Please check the difference stated of the index numbers; there is a (01) appended to the one provided by the headmaster. Anyway let this man continue flying. He has been doing a good job flying for eight years.

There is evidence of him perfoming the job well...flying for 8 years without Incident. Let the guy fly his planes.. What has a KCSE certificate got to do with it?

What about Mpigs' fake degrees coupled with F grades in public service?

Do we care about the papers or the quality of work performed?
How useful is the form four certificate?
Why are so focused in cutting people off instead of encouraging everyone to reach their full potential?
If he can fly and is qualified, then he can do the job.
I don't defend his criminal act though but some kind action/reform is needed.

I see nothing wrong here. This just proves the system of education in Kenya does NOT serve the purpose its supposed to. This guy was qualified and went through all necessary training and seemingly has bee doing a wonderful job. no case here

What I see is a clear picture that some Kenyans are more equal than others. The MP'S that provided fake degrees are they going to be paraded in court too?. But I forgot some people are above the law, where is CJ this case should be thrown out unless those using fake degrees are chrged as well.

One funny thing is that he's likely facing a team consisting folks who used mwakenya in high school- which essentially is no different from the case in question.
