DP Ruto Asks Police Officers to Avoid Being Used by Politicians to Run Political Errands
Deputy President William Ruto has urged police officers not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to run political errands.
Ruto asked all police officers to work professionally and resist any attempts to use them to settle political scores and achieve personal agendas.
“I want to tell every police officer that they must serve professionally in accordance with the law and the Constitution and no one should blackmail or intimidate them to run political errands and agendas for anybody.”
“Politicians must learn to do their thing and run their errands and agendas without involving our public servants or police officers that have nothing to do with politics,” Ruto said at his Karen residence, where he hosted some residents of Nairobi’s Kibra and Lang’ata on Thursday.
Ruto made the remarks a day after he condemned the government over the arrest of three Senators supposedly opposed to the State-backed county revenue sharing formula.
He termed the arrest of the three as an attempt to intimidate and blackmail the Senate and an abuse of police and the criminal justice.
“The abuse of police and criminal justice to bully citizens, threaten and intimidate leaders and now blackmail senate is wrong, very wrong and is not the reason why millions woke up early to vote for us,” Ruto said in tweet on Wednesday.
