Renowned University of Nairobi Lecturer Ken Ouko Succumbs to Covid-19

Distinguished Kenyan sociologist Dr. Ken Ouko has died at a Nairobi hospital.
Dr. Ouko, a lecturer at the University of Nairobi (UoN), succumbed to Covid-19 complications on Saturday morning, according to UoN communications director John Orindi.
He died while undergoing treatment at the Agha Khan Hospital, where he was admitted after contracting Covid-19.
Until his demise, Dr. Ouko was a senior lecturer at the Department of Sociology at the University of Nairobi. He specialized in the areas of deviance and family, gerontology, and medical sociology.
UoN Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama described his passing as a huge loss to the institution. Prof. Kiama said Ouko is the fifth member of UoN staff to die of Covid-19.
Education CS Prof. George Magoha said Ouko was one of the most intelligent lecturers in the UoN sociology department.
"He was much younger than me and it is sad that we have lost such a vibrant young man to the virus," said Magoha.
As of Friday, Kenya had confirmed a total of 20,636 cases of Covid-19, 341 fatalities, and 8,165 recoveries.
