Kenya Records Highest Single-Day Covid-19 Cases, Tally Rises to 535

Kenya has confirmed 45 new Covid-19 infections, the highest single-day increase since March 13th, when the country recorded its first case.

The 45 new cases were recorded from 1,077 samples tested within the last 24 hours and raises the total number of Covid-19 infections in Kenya to 535.

Out of the 45 new cases, 29 are from Nairobi, 11 from Mombasa while 5 were registered in Wajir county.

All the 29 cases in Nairobi were recorded in Eastleigh estate, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced on Tuesday, May 5th. 30 of the 45 cases are males and 15 are females.

Kagwe said all the five patients from Wajir have a recent history of Travel to Somalia. One of them is a Somali national.

At the same time, the number of Covid-19 recoveries jumped to 182 after 9 more patients were discharged from hospital in the past 24 hours.

The Health Ministry has appealed to Kenyans to stop stigmatizing recovered patients and persons who had been picked as contacts of Covid-19 patients.

“We continue to observe behavior and practices which stigmatizing persons who have either contacted or recovered from the disease. There is not a single person who is immune to the virus, you are as likely to have it as I am, therefore nobody should be stigmatized,” said CS Kagwe.

Nairobi’s Eastleigh and Kawangware estates, as well as Old Town area in Mombasa, have been marked as Covid-19 hotspots with total cases of 63, 24, and 39 respectively.

I stand to be corrected, but I still believe that the low Infection, and death rates, in Kenya, and Africa in general, are because of the BCG Vaccine, against Tuberculosis. Western Countries no longer give this vaccine to their people, but it is still given to all Africans, at birth. TB is an Inflammation of the lungs. It causes breathing problems, just like the Coronavirus. As a Scientist, I will stop short of advocating any Traditional Medicine, because I know that it is a particular Chemical in any Traditional Medicine, which works. You have to know what it is, and the right dosage, which is safe to administer to a human. So I will follow the news that Australia has vaccinated its Health Workforce, against TB, to know if the BCG Vaccine can be effective against Covid-19.

Kenya is dealing with other disasters other than Covid-19. Floods, accidents, natural deaths, police brutality, hunger, homelessness, unnecessary foreign donations, gifts, loans to hand-cup our youth and society. Give us update on all disasters. Let us not ignore all other responsibilities in the name of Covid-19!!
Africans need to know transition is not easy. From man's world order to God's world order. Be patient, until we get to " What is done in heaven be done on earth"- Eventually Pharaohs system has to:
Let God's people go!!

This quick rise of infections shows the virus is now in the community. Yesterday's 45 cases from Eastleigh revealed that. Something is going wrong in testing, contact tracing, and social distancing. Kenya needs to change its prevention strategy before it is too late.

We shouldn't forget that the reason why the pandemic has been slow in Kenya, it is because it came from outside. Had we managed to contain it, our people would not suffer this pandemic.

The high numbers of cases in Tanzania and Somalia are ours by default. It is like lice and bedbugs, if a neighbor has them, chances are you have them too.

The legacy of any government is defined by how it handles the crisis of its time.
What will be the legacy of this government?
How did our government allow 239 Chinese into the country during the pandemic?
The government also allowed them to self quarantine but would not allow its citizens to do the same? Who does the government trust here?
The government quarantine its citizens who broke the curfew rules as if they were sick
How did the government handle other crises during the pandemic?
Protection from police or police brutality?
Homelessness ( Did we demolish people's homes during the pandemic? Floods? How many people died of floods while our song was only Covid-19?
How our brothers and sisters were treated in China? and whose pain was the government feeling at the time ;Chinese pain or our citizens pain? How soon did the government act to save our citizens from humiliation in China?
Who benefited from the pain of this pandemic in Kenya?
How were blacks defended when we were called " shit-holes" and Monkeys?
What was the government busy doing during the pandemic?
May the pandemic continue to reveal more until all is laid bare!!
The answer to all these questions and more will be the legacy of this government!!
