Kenyan Diaspora Advocate Warns Against False Claims on DV-2027 Requirements
Kenyan-born diaspora advocate Damaris Obiero has urged applicants for the United States Diversity Visa (DV) 2027 programme to ignore misleading online claims suggesting that medical documentation is now required during the application process.
In a public statement, Obiero cautioned that rumours circulating on social media about mandatory medical reports at the entry stage are unfounded. She emphasised that no official communication from the US government, including the Federal Register, supports such a requirement.
“There is no official information on the Federal Register or anywhere else saying that applicants must submit a medical report before applying for the DV-2027 lottery,” she said in a Facebook post, adding that no proposed regulatory changes mention the issue.
Obiero’s remarks come amid growing concern that misinformation could discourage legitimate applicants or lead to unnecessary expenses. She warned that false claims often create opportunities for exploitation, as some individuals and service providers may take advantage of public confusion about visa procedures.
The only confirmed change to the DV-2027 application process, Obiero noted, is the introduction of a $1 application fee. This adjustment has been officially recorded in the Federal Register, the US government’s primary source for policy and regulatory updates. She urged prospective applicants to rely solely on official US Department of State announcements and verified government sources for accurate information.
