Murder Suspect Arrested at JKIA Trying to Flee to the US

A 38-year-old foreign national accused of murder was on Tuesday morning arrested while trying to flee the country.

The suspect, Ajak Dau Aketch was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in collaboration with immigration officers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.

He was waiting to board a KLM flight to Arizona, the United States through Amsterdam, the Netherlands, according to the DCI.

He was flagged down by DCI officers from Turkana West who were trailing him over a murder investigation. The DCI said the suspect will be paraded in court after relevant police procedures are complete.

The DCI did not disclose details of the murder allegations facing the foreigner, his nationality or what he was doing in the country.

Aketch is a Kenyan name. Therefore, the individual must be a Kenyan by birth. This is sad and damaging news for Kenyans in the Diaspora.

@Isaac, you commit a logical fallacy: The fact that a person has a Kenyan name does NOT mean that they are Kenyan by birth, OR even Kenyan at all! Examples: Foreigners married to Kenyan nationals who choose to adopt their names. Children of Kenyan descendants born abroad. Some random dude with no connection to Kenya out there who decides to call themselves "Aketch" - I could go on but am sure you get the point.

@kinugu (@isaacnew)! You are still spreading tribal bigotry by classifying others on the basis of their names! Sketch could hail from all over the world!!

Surely having the initials (dr) in front of a some funny names does not mean a creature has any sort of in- born wisdom, knowledge and understanding anymore!

You are surely a shame to the human race!! Your academic discipline must be forced to with your (dr) initials and subject you to a more structured race- relations training! What a shame!

When did youtube start awarding doctorates? Your logic is deeply flawed. Akech is a name found in more than just Kenya, South Sudan for example. If this person migrated to the US from South Sudan, he was always a foreign national as far as kenya is concerned
