Over 21 Million Kenyans Register for Huduma Namba

ICT Principal Secretary Jerome Ochieng’ says over 21 million Kenyans have so far registered for Huduma Namba as the registration drive enters its 27th day.

Speaking in Nairobi on Thursday, PS Ochieng' said the high number of those who have registered is an indication that Kenyans have embraced the exercise that seeks to list citizens above the age of six in the database dubbed the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS).

The official has also exuded confidence that more than 30 million Kenyans will have registered by the May 17th deadline.

PS Ochieng' was speaking during the graduation of 400 ICT interns under the Presidential Digital Programme at the Kenya School of Government.

Ochieng' has further assured Kenyans that the data collected during the exercise will be protected from hacking or unauthorized access.

The government says Huduma Namba will help ease access to various services, eliminate cases of identity fraud and help the government in planning and maintaining population register.
