I Won’t Apologize for Seeking Treatment Abroad, Esther Passaris Tells Twitter User

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris on Sunday morning clapped back at a Twitter user who criticized Kenyan leaders for seeking medical treatment abroad.

While commenting on one of Ms. Passaris’ tweets, Twitter user @ombchae1 lamented how he had lost two relatives to cancer in a span of one month, saying the family could not afford treatment in private hospitals and could not take their patients to public hospitals because they lack the required facilities.

"It is difficult to figure out. Within a span of 1 month I have [lost] 2 of my family members due to Cancer. We could not raise the cost of chemotherapy in these private hospitals since public hospitals have no facilities but our leaders are busy enjoy the world-class treatment abroad," wrote @ombchae1.

Passaris, who is currently in India after undergoing spinal surgery early this month, responded to @ombchae1 by saying she has no apologies for seeking medication abroad. She stated that she could afford treatment out of the country before she was elected.

"I won't apologize for seeking medical treatment abroad. I could afford it before I was elected & I will afford it after I leave office by the Grace of God. I know we need to do more for cancer/ terminal illnesses/ spinal etc. I assure you Health Committee will deliver," Passaris stated.

Two weeks ago, Passaris, who is a member of the Parliament Health Committee, faced similar criticism from a section of Kenyans online after she announced through Twitter that she had undergone an operation in India.

Can somebody tell Passaris to get out of social media. She is behaving like a teen. Tweeting too much and responding to every tweet.

This is what you get when you elect clueless MF's. No empathy AT ALL. She could have handled this better instead takes the opportunity to FLOSS and the guy is obviously still in mourning. SHAMELESS.

@ Daniel Komen, I agree with you. As I have said many times, the electorate is to blame for electing"impotent" leaders. As they say, you get what you pay for...so we get what we elected.
I refuse to believe that the lot we have are the most electable we have in the country. If so,we are in deep trouble.
Lastly, other than human resources, India hardly has any natural resources. And its athird world. So what are they doing that we cannot do? Basically when our leaders are running to places like India for treatment, they are acknowledging their in ability to advance our country's medical system. What a shame. We can do better. Come 2022, kick all of them out.

The Kenyan electorates must stop salivating for small things like getting bought some Alcohol, nyama Choma, cheap empty promises , etc and quickly grow up mentally to be able to chose the right kind of folks to lead them.

They got bought with Kshs 20,000,000 of cheap stuff as Passaris her self has stated before. Wahome of Kandara told the voters that she is not accountable to anybody. Gatundu South MP Kuria says he must be patted on his back by Uhuru whenever he builds red mud soil dormitories, Didi Nyoro is busy trading CDF money on the Nairobi Stock exchange to enrich himself while voters in his constituency have no dispensary (no even one) to treat jigger infestation, Gitau of Nyandarua is just blindly following DP Ruto in Tanga Tanga-ring while all roads there are made of cheap clay soils and farmers are dumping milk on the ground for luck of markets. And just look at Murkomen and Sudi - do I have to say anything about these two goons? ETC!

The biggest question begs, whose fault is it that for nearly 58 years since Independence, the current crop of leaders have become deeply disappointing? Just look at a promising Babu blowing folks with guns while the man is working - and in all this mess alcohol and drugs are involved!

As chickens come home to roost, just look at DP Ruto - man has been involved is corruption deals to a point of snatching Muteshi’s farm; his neighbor! The DP have ignored Kenyans and all he does is political campaigns for a 2022 presidency, just to have higher control to enrich him

The Kenyan electorates must stop salivating for small things like getting bought some Alcohol, nyama Choma, cheap empty promises , etc and quickly grow up mentally to be able to chose the right kind of folks to lead them.

Voters must stop voting for cons and frauds to lead them. The Kenya people themself must take control of their destiny and their country!

The electorates got bought with Kshs 20,000,000 of cheap stuff as Passaris herself has stated recently. Passaris can now drop her trousers and “moon” the voters simply because she feels they own her Kshs 20 million she spent buying flowery liquor!

Wahome of Kandara told the voters that she is not accountable to anybody. She is the Mudosi and the voters are rats eating drums under her kitchen table.

. Gatundu South MP Kuria says he must be patted on his back by Uhuru whenever he builds red mud soil dormitories. Note - Kuria blames Uhuru for his personal failures to include being a drunkard!

Didi Nyoro is busy trading CDF money on the Nairobi Stock exchange to enrich himself while voters in his constituency have no dispensary (no even one) to treat jigger infestation. Moro is immune from being accountable to his electorates.

Gitau of Nyandarua county is just blindly following DP Ruto in Tanga Tanga-ring while all roads there are made of cheap clay soils at very exorbitant costs, and farmers are dumping milk on the ground for luck of markets.

And just look at Murkomen and Sudi - do I have to say anything about these two goons? ETC!

The biggest question here begs; whose fault is it that for nearly 58 years since Independence, the current crop of leaders have become deeply disappointing and takes Kenya as their golden place steal from the ordinary people!

Just look at a promising Babu blowing folks with guns while the man is working - and in all this mess alcohol and drugs are involved! Are Kenya leaders at war with the people they are required to serve?

Wow, look at Waititu, Sonko, etc! And the list views on and on...

Why is it that the politicians, civil servants, parastatal heads are simply so marred in corruption and the electorates are not putting them at task to stop stealing?

As chickens come home to roost, just look at DP Ruto - man has been involved is corruption deals to a point of snatching Muteshi’s farm; his neighbor! The DP have ignored Kenyans and all he does is political campaigns for a 2022 presidency, just to have higher control to enrich himself with people’s coffers!?

Wow, certainly Kenyans need a very dedicated HUDINI (good magician) to turn things around if the country will start to grow! Something is about to blow up because the current treads can not be continued!

@passaris - no Kenya is asking you to apologize for your treatment in India! The issue is how you address Kenyans who can’t afford the treatment in India in a condescending manner! You make Kenyan women with similar ailments feel less you because they can’t afford the kind of treatment that the government paid for you to receive in India!

I am now wondering what is wrong with Kenya politicians as you seem to imply that you are more superior beings than those who elected you to serve them.

Toy ought to humble yourself and cut the nonsense of defending going to India. What if you had been treated in Norway or America who the medical care is first class?

India is just another third world country full of racist color mixed up folks! Nothing to be arrogant about receiving surgery in India! Stop impressing the common wanchi because those who know better won’t go to India for any kind of medical treatment!

Stop pestering Kenyans back home!!!

Passaris, you have too much time to peddle nonsense. If you have nothing to do, shut up and stop mocking Kenyans who have nowhere to go for treatment. The only hospitals they have have no drugs. Ask Waiguru about it. You went for treatment at the expense of Wanjiku who you now ungratefully tell, you got no apologies for funding it. Passaris una mambo.

The term, “Mheshimiwa” used to means positive things, and was worth something at its mention back in the days!

Mheshimiwas delivered whenever called upon; they even never waited to be called upon to do good things, they naturally stood up with the people to be counted!

The old time waheshimiwa respected the electorates, they made the electorates feel good and proud of an aspiring young nation full of hopes of prosperity!

It did matter whether the voters were healthy or sick; wealthy or poor - they mingled freely with them!

And how surely do I wish those waheshimiwa could just come back to train to current ones on the lessons of humbleness and getting the people work done! Surely how do I wish!!!!!

And to baba Jimmy who belonged to that hard working class of selfless citizens - what happened to the current crop of elected officials? Mafi ya Kuku au wao ni kubafu!!!
