Police Hunt for Fake Catholic Nuns Caught on CCTV Buying Electronics Worth Sh600,000 Using False Cheque

Police have launched a manhunt for two women and man who allegedly used a bounced cheque to buy items worth Sh600,000 from a Nakuru-based electronics trader on September 14th.

The two women are said to have arrived at the electronics shop posing as Catholic Church sisters. The two women were dressed in nuns’ religious habits, including rosaries.

They were captured on CCTV inside Jose Electronics shop in Molo, Nakuru County, where they used a cheque to pay for 17 HD Samsung and Sony TV sets whose prices ranged from Sh20,000 to Sh50,000 each.

The two ladies were in the company of a male suspect, who drove them to and from the shop in a Toyota Voxy. A detailed review of the surveillance footage showed the suspects, who claimed to be nuns from St. Joseph’s Seminary in Molo, had purchased electronic items in cash from the same shop a day earlier.

The owner of the shop, Joseph Wainaina said he was shocked when he was told the cheque was ‘fake’ after he went to bank it. He reported the incident at Molo Police Station on October 3rd.

There is a 50,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of these suspects. No suspect has so far been arrested in connection with the incident.
