Uhuru's Niece and KICC CEO Nana Gecaga on the Spot over Sh10 Million Foreign Trip

Uhuru's Niece and KICC CEO Nana Gecaga on the Spot over Sh10 Million Foreign Trip

The management of Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) led by CEO Nana Gecaga is on the spot for allegedly organizing an expensive foreign trip to receive an award.

Ms. Gecaga, who is President Kenyatta’s niece, allegedly took a team of KICC officials to Mauritius to receive an award and ended up spending Sh10 million, according to Daily Nation.

The 20-man delegation included board members Jane Adam, Lucy Macridis, Kavinya Mwendwa, Fatma Muses and Jackson Kinyanjui among others.

Parliament’s Public Investments Committee (PIC), which oversights KICC management, has called for investigations to establish whether there was value for money in the trip.

“The committee is seized of the matter and is liaising with the Auditor- General to establish whether there was value for the money,” PIC Chairperson Abdulswamad Nassir said.

Ms. Gecaga spent a total of Sh776,500 including Sh277,800 in allowances, Sh398,700 on air ticket (business class) and Sh100,000 in entertainment allowance, Daily Nation reported.

Each KICC board member received Sh583,900 for the four days they spent in the West African country while members of staff got between Sh300,850 and Sh386,250 depending on their rank.

KICC, which is Kenya’s top conference center, had been nominated in two categories including Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre 2019 and Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination 2019.

KICC was named Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference destination in the 26th Annual World Travel Award (WTA).

“We are honored to receive these awards. The awards truly attest to the fact that Nairobi and KICC offer the best MICE experience in the region,” said KICC CEO Gecaga after receiving the award.

She added: “To win such a prestigious international award is a huge boost and motivation for the Tourism sector. This award goes out to all of us in the Meetings industry who work tirelessly to ensure that we are at the top of our game.”

Going after Kenyatta family is like attempting to touch a leopards’ tail, Corruption, nepotism and looting is the best thing an African ( blacks in general) can do, it doesn’t matter whether you educate them to the very highest level , no one will put his/ her country first, there is an ever lasting curse from God.

That's it. Boards are the silent rubber-stamps of all corruption that goes on in these institutions... the BOD members reward themselves with unnecessary trips that earn them millions in mind-boggling allowances
How come all this wastage seems to get worse the more it is highlighted? Who has the authority to STOP THIS WASTAGE?

Anything that has the Kenyatta name in it ofcourse is linked with corruption. That family is the root of corruption in Kenya. Jomo was the pond by the british to destabilize the mau mau and in return he was the president. The only way to get real change in Kenya is by draining the swamp. But wakenya bado wajajam!!! Alooter continua
