Murder Suspect Jowie's Lawyer Suggests Monica Kimani May Have Died from Starvation

A lawyer representing murder suspect Joseph Irungu alias Jowie has suggested that businesswoman Monica Kimani may have died from starvation.

On Tuesday, lawyer David Ayuo asked an expert witness in the trial whether he ascertained beyond any reasonable doubt that Ms. Kimani’s did not die from hunger.

Ayuo posed the question after the witness told the court that the victim’s “trachea had been slit open, and that blood was oozing from her private parts.”

“Did you open her esophagus to ascertain the food Monica Kimani took that day? Did you open her stomach? Could we suggest that the cause of her death was as a result of starvation?” posed Ayuo.

Jowie is accused of killing Ms. Kimani at her apartment in Nairobi's Kilimani area on September 18th, 2018.

He was charged alongside his girlfriend, Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe, who is already out on bail.

The two took fresh pleas on Tuesday before High Court Justice James Wakiaga. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Monica was brutally murdered at her apartment in Lamuria Gardens hours after she returned to the country from South Sudan, where she allegedly managed family business.

Her body had been dumped in a bathtub with hands and legs tied, and throat slit.

It is evident that This Ayuo bought his Law Degree, he must be investigated with a view of stripping him of that Law Degree and also examine the school that awarded him that Degree. 118 PhDs from Jomo Kenyatta University and now this blunder? JOKE

Such a disrespectful comment to make. Monica's family is in mourning and grieving and a lawyer decides to make light of and joke about the situation. Is this what law schools in Kenya are teaching?

These people are mocking Justice in Kenya. I think that this Jowie guy, and the Ochieng guy who killed a prison warder in Murang'a are drug addicts. They did it when they were high on drugs, to women who trusted them, without really knowing them. They killed, for no other reason, but because the drugs in their heads told them that they could, and possibly get away with it. If they are convicted, I suggest that the President should sign their death sentence, which still exists in Kenya today.
