Bomet Governor Dr. Joyce Laboso Admitted to a London Hospital

Bomet Governor Dr. Joyce Laboso has been admitted to a hospital in London, United Kingdom.

Laboso left the country for the UK on Wednesday last week after handing over duties to Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok.

Her office announced she was taking a one-month medical leave, ending months of public speculation that she has been unwell. She had not been seen in the public for weeks.

“During her four weeks absence, the Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok will hold brief for her. Dr. Barchok will be assisted by County Secretary Mrs. Evalyne Rono and Chief of Staff Mrs. Jayne Sigilai,” said Bomet Director of Communications Ezra Kirui.

“The Governor assures Bomet residents and stakeholders that the running of government functions and activities will continue as normal with no interruption."

Opposition leader Raila Odinga shared photos of Laboso in a hospital bed when he visited her on Tuesday.

Odinga was accompanied by Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Manoah Esipisu.

“In London, accompanied by Kenya High Commissioner to the UK, Manoah Esipisu, visited Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso who is recovering at a local hospital. They wished the Governor a quick recovery,” Raila said in a social media post.

Dr. Laboso is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed ailment. She has previously traveled to the UK, United States, and India for medical attention.

Tenwek Mission Hospital in Bomet is the best hospital in Kenya or one of the top 5. Why can't Laboso go to Tenwek Mission Hospital.

I don't understand your rant, @halisi, or those who are asking why she was not treated in Bomet. When you fall sick, it your Doctor, not your political strategist, who tells you where you should be treated, in order to get well.

Did you ever see the pictures of Kerugoya hospital? If Waiguru gets sick would she go there, would her husband or any of her family? Yet the expectation is that ordinary people go there. American politicians go to American hospitals and would be crucified if they went abroad. If Kenya politicians were forced to go to Kenya hospitals, conditions would have to improve. If Kenya spent 5 to 6 billion on fixing the hospitals instead of huduma namba of dubious value, there would be actual delivery of service. What does it say about the confidence in Kenya doctors when politicians of all stripes go abroad and Kenya imports Cubans? Whose money is being used for these foreign hospital stays? Do they fly coach? Do the vistors stay @ 5 star hotels and on whose dime?

When will the UK & USA start denying wakubwa visa? This is one form of corruption. They do not care about the hospitals in Kenya but when they get sick they rush to majuu.

The problem is not with this inept leaders. The problem is with ignorant electorate who doesn’t care about accountability of the leaders they elect. People keep running their mouths but when it comes election, they will elect people based on tribal affiliations not merit. This has been the problem ever since independence regardless of whether one is educated or not, in Kenya and Africa as a whole, tribe comes first before merit. That’s why everywhere things look like shithole...whether education, healthcare, civil service, roads etc.

@jag,you have hit the nail on the head, with surgical precision. Ihave said time and again that the power is with the voters, the masses. After all they are the ones who bear the brunt of resulting from bad leadership. Why dont the voters haunt the alleged corrupt individuals from office?Go camp at the office or their home till they pay for their crimes. Or immediately step down then if totally cleared, only then should they go back in the office.

Jamani! Ningependa kujua:
Ndugu Raila anafanya nini Uingereza? Ni nani aliyemlipia nauli ya kusafiri huko kwa ndege na huku maskini wanakufa kwa njaa Kenya !Kazi yake ni ipi katika Jamhuri ya Kenya?
