Kenyatta: Huduma Namba is Not Satanic, Not Targeting Men with 'Mpango wa Kandos'

President Kenyatta has dismissed some of the myths and misconceptions about the "Huduma Namba" program.

Speaking during the official launch of the mass biometric registration of Kenyans to the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS), Kenyatta has termed as outrageous some of the rumors about the registration drive.

President Uhuru has dispelled claims by a section of Kenyans that "Huduma Namba" is demonic.

He has criticized a section of Kenyan clergymen who linked the program to satanic beliefs. Some clerics are said to have told their followers that the number is symbolic to the mark of the beast – 666 – as captured in the book of Revelation, where one would not buy or sell anything without it.

“I was shocked the other day when I heard that some people who were preaching the word of God were saying that this exercise is demonic. Honestly, how does Satan and identifying yourself relate?” Kenyatta poses.

“Please let us not use the privileged positions we have been given and the respect that the people give us to spread lies. This is supposed to improve our ability to provide Kenyans with the services that they truly deserve and desire."

He has also assured Kenyans that the government is not interested in collecting DNA samples during the drive.

“The government is not interested in anyone’s DNA samples. The samples are only meant for an individual and their respective families,” Kenyatta adds.

Kenyatta has also laughed off claims that the exercise aims at identifying men who have sired children with their ‘mpango wa kandos’.

“Our old men are now being told that this process will reveal their secret affairs and the number of children that they have sired out of wedlock. I want to insist that all those stories that are being peddled around all of them are lies,” says Uhuru.

He has urged Kenyans across the country to take part in the 45-day exercise.

Upon registration, one will be issued with a unique identification code known as Huduma Namba through which they will seek government services.

Which government services? If we can't get any government services right now without bribing someone, how will huduma namba eradicate corruption in the government bodies? With or without the namba the services will remain poor! Uhuru, weed out corruption and the cartels and Kenya will thrive.

XG is right. Please see Ndii's article on Uhuru's proposal on micro lending and his family banks.
He could start by ordering the immediate processing and release of all pending documents. You have to agree a four year wait for a document is inexplainable.

There is no justification for this huduma number. The government should show what it will do that already existing registrations don achieve. There is something sinister with it. The boy in whitehouse shows us once again how out of his depth he is. Why add a bureaucratic requirement to provision of services. Worst president in Kenya history. Bure kabisa!

Too much taxpayers money is being squandered on useless projects. Mara new generation ID, sijui e-passport, mara Biometric number. Meanwhile Kenyans are dying of hunger, drinking dirty water, and flying out to India for moderate medical care. Whatever happened to simple common sense?

Someone has not explained the difference between this HUDUMA NAMBA is all about. Why could the National Identity Card Number be used. Not to forget that we have other identifies like the Personal Identification Number (issued by KRA) and Birth Entry Number on the birth certificate.

This huduma number might be a good thing but why has it been introduced rapidly without consultation. No citizen was aware of this three month ago. Secondly, I think it will increase corruption and theft coz the government will be able to access our monies in the bank directly and it (gvnt) contains poisoners thiefs. Thirdly, Read revelation 13 onwards. You can't buy nor sell unless you have it..... sisi kwisha

Who will store this information? Who will fund this program? Same foreign investors who in the past maimed, castrated, sodomized, raped and killed our forefathers (The West). We are suppose to trust them with our citizens private information? This is a joke. Our forefathers lived without those numbers and lived complete lives. We will do the same. Uhuru and this government will retire come 2022. Kenya will still go on. Let Kenyans wait, there is no hurry. If Kenyans find those numbers important, they can acquire them even 5 or 10 years from now. Let us go back to providing Kenyans with basics; food, shelter, health, and education. All other hasty advancement can wait.
