Kenyan Televangelist David Owuor Accused of 'Brainwashing' Lawyer into Giving Up Sh1.5 Billion Property to Church

Controversial self-proclaimed Kenyan prophet David Owuor has been accused of dispossessing a church member of a Sh1.5 billion property located in Westlands, Nairobi.

The family of Jane Njagi, a former lawyer in Nairobi, accuses Owuor's church of forcefully taking over her apartments located along Rhapta Road in Westlands and using proceeds from the property to finance his flashy lifestyle.

“At the heart of the dispute is a claim that the prophet and senior bishops in his church coerced the woman, identified as Jayne Muthoni, to appoint Owuor’s follower, Lilly Njage, as a co-director in Shaba Investment Limited, the registered owner of the flats,” The Star reports.

The family claims that their kin has been brainwashed by the prophet and the church into giving up her fortunes.

Ms. Njagi reportedly surrendered her apartments to the church after prayers by the prophet and the church 'healed' her son of dyslexia.

“As a thank you, Ms. Njagi dedicated her Riverside Drive home to the church for Bible study,” the church’s lawyer Kimani Watenga told journalists.

Ms. Njagi's sister, Alice Macharia claims that the family could not reach her when their mother passed away since she was heavily guarded.

They were only allowed to see her after their brother, Duncan showed up with their mother’s obituary in one of the local newspapers.

Lawyer Watenga says the church has no interest in Ms. Njagi’s property and is willing to vacate should she demand so.

Lawyer Watenga further says that Ms. Njagi is a bishop at the church and abandoned her law practice to dedicate her life to serving the church.

The family claims Ms. Njagi is currently living with a woman identified as Lily Muthoni Macharia, who is alleged to have taken over her finances.

In her defense, Ms. Muthoni told the media that she realized that Ms. Njagi was forgetful and took over her finances to save her from being exploited.

Nimesema wazi ya kwamba binadamu yeyote anayejifanya kuwa yeye ni mtumishi wa "MWUMBAJI MKUU" ni jambazi na pia tapeli.

If you see a church that does miracles healing every Sunday and they do not read the Bible and explain it that is a cult and fake.

Another reason why church is not "pour moi"! I shall pray in my house , interpret the bible all by myself, do good to fellow humans while I'm still alive, the churches as we knew them as holy grounds when growing up are all dead and irrelevant!

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching".....In everything there are good and bad ones. There are bad schools and that will not make you not take your children to good schools. There some bad hospitals but that will not make you not go to hospital when you get sick....When you stay alone that the time the devil will attack you because he knows you do not have protection.

As long as people are going to live lives as if they have a hole in their hearts, some sucker's gonna see it, some sucker's gonna work his or her way to take advantage of it, some sucker's gonna fill that hole up for you. And trust, there's a sucker like that born every minute. Do not blame that sucker, blame yourself 🙂

We need laws to govern the moral bankruptcy of these churches and their leaders. These Churches are businesses like any other and they should be treated as such. They should pay taxes.
Kenyans, read the bible-it's black man's history but do not allow anyone to interpret it for you. Most of these Churches are only interested in taking your wealth and the wealth of posterity.
Leave the churches alone!! They are foreign in our land!

Last time we had a big army of wanakondoo here defending this bearded fake prophet. Where are they now? The lady who's property was stolen is reported to be a lawyer, not an ordinary kondoo. The DCI already has his hands full investigating corruption cases. Asipoteze wakati kwa upuzi kama hii.

If you are that stupid to believe another human being is a prophet then go ahead and get scammed. You have control over your life not a scammer calling himself a prophet. Tons of people are being screwed up every Sunday. These are all deliberate scams. Use your brains. Don't let another person take over your head.

If this is the Jayne Muthoni Njage that I knew and who helped me with my Hillview Estate then God help us all.
