Ailing Former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe Unable to Walk, Under Medical Care in Singapore

Former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe is not able to walk, his successor Emmerson Mnangagwa has revealed.

President Mnangagwa says Mugabe has been receiving treatment in Singapore for the past two months and is unable to move by himself due to old age.

"He (Mugabe) is now old. Of course, he now is unable to walk but whatever he asks for we will provide," Mnangagwa told supporters in Mugabe's home area of Zvimba on Saturday.

"We are looking after him. He is the founding father of the nation of Zimbabwe. He is our founding father of free Zimbabwe."

"He should have been back on October 25th but his health was not yet good, but yesterday we got a message that he thinks he is getting better. He will come back on November 30th."

The 94-year-old was ousted from power in a bloodless military 'coup' last year after ruling the South African nation for 37 years.

Why would African politicians care to develope great medical care in their countries, they know they will get the best there is in the world when they need it and the poor citizens of their countries will foot the huge bills for them.

Remember the Zimbabwe ruins. Zimbabwe was there before Mugabe came about. He only exploited it and killed his fellow country men, women and children.

He was president for over 30yrs but like most african leaders he never invested in the local healthcare since he could always fly to South Africa and Singapore whenever he wanted to. The same with Kenya as most leaders get their health care in foreign countries.

Exit strategy is one crucial thing our leaders wont plan for. Knowing when it is time to exit the stage would have accorded Bob a healthier retirement. Even in our homesteads, if Mzee does not plan to relinquish some of the responsibilities and resources to mama or the kids, the final days become very complicated. Not getting the attention he had all along enjoyed, he gets into panic mode disposing off whatever is available, running into arms of ndogo ndogos, putting into jeopardy all he has worked for in his life including reputation. In all situations know when to walk away, doing all the good you can because you are this way once.

Each time mwafrica runs from his country to be treated in a foreign country re-affirms the notion that africans are" inferior...
If mitishamba worked, why dont we have wazungu flocking in Kenya for treatment ?Or africa for that matter?

Good lord Imara! that clip delivered a potent punch! Made me think and I am afraid it has some truth in it. Look at all the talent we export. We come abroad to better ourselves and more often than not return in our coffins.....mhhh, now that's a depressing thought! Damn!
