Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko Confesses to Making Money through Dubious Deals

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has admitted to making money through dubious deals in his youthful years.
Speaking during a function at Nairobi's Kangemi area on Saturday, Sonko said he's now a changed person and promised to put his all attention to ensuring the well-being of all city residents.
"I started making money a long time ago. I could do business when in high school, sold even land and engaged in dubious deals during those days. That life is now gone, it is now more than 20 years ago. I am now a changed person and that is why I am focused on protecting the properties and public resources for the good of the people of Nairobi," stated Governor Sonko.
The flamboyant Governor also read riot act on county officials engaging in corruption stating that no one will be spared if found to be involved in the vice. Sonko vowed no public funds will be stolen from City Hall during his tenure.
"I will not be arrested like Governor Ojaamong just because of your theft. I know you and I will make sure you go to jail before that happens to me. Even those who are bribing members of the county assembly to intimidate me I will not spare you. You will go to jail," he warned.
"When I hired you [City Hall staff] you were slender but right now you have turned wealthy, with big bellies. I will demand that you explain how you've gained so much weight over such a short time," he added.

Talking of corruption, I am…
Permalink
Talking of corruption, I am getting worried about the rampant doping that has hit Kenya athletics.Just over aweek ago, aKenyan sprinter was sent home for doping ,before the start of African games in Nigeria. This week another marathoner, Lucy Kabuu has tested positive for banned substance. In February, Abel Kiprop also tested positive for same.
As a ports lover, particularly athletics, Iam concerned that IAAF will now not invite many Kenyans to participate in track and field events organized by the association.
This is also a grand stain on those who run clean.
Iam also shocked that despite all these drumming of"run clear" to our athletes, some still dont get it.
Now all our winning ways will be suspect.Which is a shame. We pride in our athletes ,and feel good when they raise the Kenyan flag in international events.
Yes the pressure to cheat is as real as the pressure to give bribe,or accept abribe. In Kenya you may get away with corruption, but with IAAF watching all international sports,it will be hard for Kenyan dopers do dodge the bullet.
Athletes who dope are soiling Kenyan name and should be treated as criminals.
It is also unfortunate that Anti-doping agency is as ineffective as the Anti-Corruption agency in Kenya. Some of you may remember that Kenya was almost banned from participating in the 2016 RIO Oympics for doping violations, and poor checks and balances in the anti doping agency.
Now the solution:If an athlete is under 20 years and is caught doping, he or she should be banned for 6 years. If an athlete is over 20,but under 26,should be banned for 8years.And if over 26, should be banned for life. There is no excuse at the present time for athletes to dope.Warnings are everywhere. No athlete in Kenya is ignorant of doping and the consequences.
Yes, tough laws will clean the sport. And I mean when Implemented and adhered to.
Good luck to athletes representing Kenya at the African games in Asaba,Nigeria.Keep it clean.
